Messiahs Song

Merry Christmas Yeshua! Here is a song expressing the Love of Your Betrothed for You, until we meet again!

Messiah's Song

Your heart said be my bride

And my heart said yes I do

You called me to your side

And that's where I fell in love with You

Rivers of Life and Purity

Sprinkled with Mercy and Love

Sealed with the ring of Your Ruwach

'Till the day You take me Home above

The voice of the turtle dove is heard throughout the land

The fig tree bring forth their green bud

Your heart sings softly to me come away my Love

And my heart sings Your the One

How can I withold from You my son

Whom You knew before time was new

You called him to Your side

And that's where he fell in love with You

You'll soon appear in the eastern sky

The clouds be rolled back as a scroll

You'll take me Home with You forever more

And there I will finally be whole

Ev'ry tribe and nation will bow before Your throne

Ev'ry tounge confess that You are Lord

For Your coronation present You'll receive Your Bride

Pure and spotless as You are

Though I sit here Love sick with Grief

I know we've got things to do

I've got invitations to write

For the day the Chrurch becomes Your Wife

You will prepare a place for us on High

Filled with all things Perfect and New

There Gold is something we just walk upon

And Love is something we just DO!

There we will sit and laugh beside the crystal sea

And drink from the Water of Life

All things that were intended before time began

Shall be forever with out end

Whats Truth and Whats Toad
This Sermon was given at House of Prayer Lexington on Sunday, Nov 23, 2008.  On that night my wife had sort of a mini personal Miracle of the Lights.  Nine minutes into recording this sermon the camera battery light began to blink it's warning that there was about five minutes left of battery power.  She prayed that she would be able to record the entire message.  Fifteen minutes later the battery was still going strong so that the entire message was recorded.  The duration was a total of 24 minutes.  God had brought this miracle for a reason so that you could hear about What's Truth and What's Toad.

Golden Let Down

This song has been written for a long time now (about three months).  Immediately after writing a song of repentance from idolotry the song itself became an idol.  I am at the present unable to publish the recording of it because my laptop harddrive burned up.

Golden Let Down

When our idols let us down

When they burn a hole in the sky

Will we seek You then?

Will we even wonder why?

Or will we stoop and bow

Before the golden god that we've made

And call the third world names

For whom the Son of Man came to save?

Dwell in us today

You who paid the price for our sin

Wipe our tears away

Purify Your house from within

Stay with us YHWH

Until the golden god disappear

Qedosh Yes'rael

Hear our cry and draw us near

Money let us down

Our graduations hang on the wall

Only You can save

Only You can take sins away

Bright Morning Star

No one else can stand in Your Place

We repent YHWH

Take our golden idols away

We Look for the Day

This song has been written for even longer.  I wrote it almost a year ago when I was working as a moving man moving an elderly couple into a retirement community. Sorry can't upload the recording yet because my harddrive is fried.

We Look for the Day

We look for the day

When money can't be found

And we gladly serve each other with Your Love

When diamonds hold no value

But to magnify the beauty of Your Face

Of Your Love and Grace

You will come like lightning in the eastern sky

And You'll take Your children to their Home on High

Then You will Reign upon us for a thousand years

And this old world will finally see what Love is

In America?

I have traditionally spent New Year's Eve praising and worshipping the Qedosh Yisra'el but this year I was moved to lament and cry for our great nation.  America what are we doing?

In America?

I'm the voice of one crying in the wilderness

Who will hear our cries oh Lord?

When will we see the freedoms promised in America

For the countless babies burned up in their mother's womb?

Who'd have thought a place of warmth and love could be a tomb?

In America? (2x)

He that loves the wine and oil will never know what's rich

And the cost of bread shall rise

I've been shore to shore in search of bread in America

I'm hungering and thirsting though my belly's filled up fat and full

Good Shepherd hear our cries for Bread and Water in this wilderness

In America? (2x)

We sit like caged rats schooling our children in their homes

Rachel Scott we hear Your cries

Oh say can you see the orange glow beyond the setting sun

And smell the burning flesh the consumation of what has begun

And hear the distant cries from the ovens 'tis the END of Darwin's fun

In America?

And now I plea the Blood over us from shore to shining shore

Of Jesus Christ the Risen Lord

And invoke the POWER in His Name for Freedom in this land

For through it all somehow the Star Spangled Banner yet waves

And my heart we'll be the Land of the Free and Brave

In America! (3x)

Dumb Dogs
Yes its your friendly singing-cyber-prophet asking you to bark with me!  I'm sorry that it's another lament but when I look at America anymore all I can do is cry.  Just cry, get angry, and then cry somemore.  BTW dumb dogs are not just our pastors and preachers but it is any and all of us who know the truth.  If you know the truth why aren't you barking with me?

Dumb Dogs

Hear our cry oh Lord!

While we're made to beg for bread and water

And it's poisoned anyway

They make the children pass through the fire

And proclaim that they are god

And the dumb dogs never bark

They're drunken in the dark

Too afraid to reach beyond the pew

They devour widows with lies from Malachi

And lock the fathers out

With promises of gold they lie in wait

While the cities and the airwaves are laid waste

And the dumb dogs never bark

They're drunk and never start

Oh Lord

When the East Wind Blows
I suppose this is a, "He that has ears to hear..." sort of thing.  It was written about one week before those tornadoes hit in February 2008.  I don't think there is a connection.  I think that the east wind is going to hit the east coast of the United States and I also think that the east wind is already silently destroying and eating away at our government and culture from the inside out.  It's not just a prophecy but a song of consolation that I rock myself with when I am destressed at the east wind.  I'm reminded of the words of Messiah, "All of these things must come to pass but the end is not yet..."

NOTE:  No your eyes are not deceiving you.  This epigraph used to be longer.  I trucated the ending because a friend of mine once told me, "Do not interpret God's words but to let them speak for themselves."  Thank you Joe for that advice.  I apologize for my pride and shall try harder to do what is right.

When the East Wind Blows

When the east wind blows

When the tides will rise, oh Lord

For the time of wrath and yet a time of peace and love

If America forgets her God

Who will be a prophet for us?

When the morning comes

And you wonder what it's all about...

Remember your First Love

And take the hand that's reaching out

For the voice of fifty thousand strong

Will sing Your Praise

Receive Your Grace

When the judgement comes

And awakes revival in us

In the Strangest Places

This song was written on the day of the lunar eclipse.  Only I did not know that there was supposed to be a lunar eclipse until I looked up into the sky that night and saw it.  St.  Augustine believed that the moon was put into the sky in order to remind us that the Bride of the Messiah reflects his Light on the earth.  I believe he is right.  There is much strong biblical basis for his belief.  So when you look up into the sky and see the moon turning blood red from a lunar eclipse you know that there is a portion of the church who is facing bloody deadly persecution.  Remember them with me in prayer this November 9.

In the Strangest Places

Will Your loving Kindness be declared in the grave?
Or Your Faithfullness in the place of doom?
Will Your Wonders be known in the dark?
And Your Righteousness?
Or will we all forget?

Refrain:
Jesus
Name above all Names
Higher than the Highest
Greater than the Grave
I cry out to You
More than lover or friend
You'll be faithful and True
Until the very end
Oh Lord

Why do you cast off my soul to bleed?
Oh Lord
And hide Your Face from me in my hour of need?
Afflicted and distraught from my youth
Hear my cry oh Lord and don't let me forget!
(refrain)

You Deserve Your Name Declared

You Deserve Your Name Declared

You deserve Your Name declared in all the earth

You deserve Your Name declared in Love

And You deserve Your Name declared in us

Though the heavens and the earth will all pass away

Though the mountains crumble to the sea

All the heavens and the earth can no contain Your Love

So You deserve to have Your way in us

King Yeshua please have Your way in us!

Happy Rosh Hashana

Happy Rosh Hashana

Blow the Shofar with me, oh House of Israel!  Return now to the covenant our Eloheem, the Qedosh Yishra'el!  Hear now the sound of the coronation of our King who returns to us soon!  Hear now the wailing of the Jewish heart who longs for Him, who longs for her Bride Groom!  Hear now the wake-up call to repentance!  Return with me to the covenant and to the House of our Eloheem, the Eloheem of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!  Hear now the faith of our Father Abraham who calls to us from beyond the years!

Drink now the fatness of the milk of His Word and taste the sweetness of His honey!  Know ye that YHWH He is Eloheem.  It is He who has made us and not we our selves.  We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  We are Israel!

Thank you oh Israel.  Thank you for preserving the oracles for us.  Thank you for suffering the persecution and the labor pains to bring forth our Messiah.  Thank you for being a shining light in the midst of adversity.  Thank you for bringing achievements in medicine and communications and nuclear physics and every area of human life.  Thank you oh House of Israel.  I blow the Shofar with you.

This year I blow the Shofar with you.  If they persecute you then they must persecute me too.  This year I return to the covenant with you.  If they kill you then they must kill me too.  In antiquity we changed our sabbath to run from the persecution of our brethern.  Now I choose to identify myself with you.  Many of our fathers were wrong and hurt you.  I return to the covenant of our Eloheem and I ask His forgiveness and your forgiveness for the persecution because of Martin Luther's fat mouth and words spoken in malice and bitterness.  I ask the forgiveness of our Eloheem and you, oh Israel, for any trite or off-handed statements that have brought you pain.  I blow the Shofar with you, oh House of Israel.

This Rosh Hashanah there is a bitter wailing in the Jewish heart for there is no temple, no altar on which to make the sacrifice but I say to you, "Look to the hills from which your help shall come because He has provided the Sacrafice.  He has already provided the Ram even as He did your father Abraham."  We are the temple oh House of Israel and YHWH chooses not to dwell in a house of stone or a temple made by hands but in the hearts of those who Love Him.

Blow the Shofar oh house of Israel for He will call you to His covenant to meet Him in the clouds.  Blow the Shofar, oh House of Israel!

Rosh Hashana -- Sundown 29 Sep 2008 - Nightfall 1 Oct 2008
Yom Kippur --  Sundown 8 Oct 2008 - nightfall on 9 Oct 2008

Get Flushed

Far too many would like to rewrite Romans 12:2 so that it misreads, "Be not conformed to the things of this world but be you conformed to the things of my church"  Do a word study on this!  Put a lot of thought in to what a transformation process really is.  It's not a check list.  It's a relationship.  And our God is a quarky kind of God.  He'll give all the answers that you've been looking for to some geek on the Internet or some mentally retarded person at the institution or some prisoner public enemy number one just because he wants to see if you bother to go to the least of these.  America quit playing it safe.  Get out of the pew and find out how much Jesus Loves you.  I've really got to make that call to the prison ministry.

Get Flushed

Take away the drugs and pscychology

Throw away the paper and turn off the TV

Open up your Bible and learn how to read

And You just might see Jesus (2x)

Refrain:

Get flushed for the King of Kings

Get flushed see the Joy that He brings

Get flushed and learn how to read

And you just might see Jesus (2x)

When they nailed him to the Cross

He took it like a man

No mambie-pamsey for the Great I Am

Take all that you've got and flush it down the can

And You just might see Jesus (2x)

(Refrain)

You know Jesus never promised a bed of roses

Unless it was trampled on the ground...

But you're His child

The lost He's found

You've heard it said religion is the opium of the masses

So forget about religion and take up your cross

And follow Jesus (2x)

Get flushed for the King of Kings

Get flushed see the Joy that He brings

Get flushed and learn how to read

And you just might see Jesus (2)

The Devolution of Man

A lament for the death of science, reason, and culture due to the advent of the theory of evolution and the postmodern era.

The Devolution of Man

Entropy will mock you
You who scorn the Truth
And never pull the curtain back
And say that it's no use

For by the Anthropic Principal
The Universe demands
That all of God's Creation
Remains Safely in His Hands

Refrain:
Not with you who take the mark and bite the fruit
Of the Devolution of Man

You used to think God's thoughts after Him
And bow and worship at the awe of His majestic plan
Now you think thoughts for Him
And watch the monkey scratch his can

Monkey see; monkey do
Throw your hands up there's no use
Nothing left to sing about
No one left to Love
(refrain)

What happened to Handel
Or Mozart or Rafael?
Why desecrate the Cross
And turn up the radio?

I'm sorry primate cousins take my head
But I won't go
(refrain)

Psalm 137

Psalm 137

This is the most emotional melody that I have ever written.  It is very mysterious and touches upon the entire gamete of emotion.  Don't take it as a song of vengence.  It is not.  Take it as a prophecy.  The little ones to be dashed against the rocks are the followers of the Daughter of Babylon and the Rock is either Messiah or the Temple Mount.  Notice that it is daughter (singular) and not daughters (plural).  This can only point to Mystery Whore Babylon.  Who is the Mystery Whore?  That is the mystery.  She is not the Catholic Church or Islam or America or anyone else like that.  That is too simple and none of those organizations are both evil enough and conniving enough.  No the Whore is the tares that are sewn among the wheat.  She is in every organization and every where on earth.  She rears her head when ever people follow the money or whenever they stop trying to follow God and start trying to be Him.

This is a song of mourning and loss yes.  Maybe it is about the original Babylonian captivity or those killed by Nero or six million Jews being burned alive or 65 million American unborn citizens being burned alive in the wombs of their own mothers.  Maybe it is a personal loss because of sin in the world or just plain life.

Yet it doesn't end there.  The psalm has  a turn which I represent musically by a key change.  This turn comes when we remember YHWH.  When we remember Zion.  When we remember the seed and decide to Love when we ought to hate and care when we ought to give up.

C         D          C    Em
By the rivers of Babylon
                      D
There we sat down
             C
Yea we wept
                         D        C  Em
When we remembered Zion
                     D
We hung our harps
     C        G   Em
Upon the willows

In the midst of it

G                                D
For those who carried us away
C     Em
Captive
C                    G
Asked of us a Song

                                        D
And those who plundered us
      C         Em
Requested mirth
            C       D              G
Saying sing us one of the Songs
     Em
Of Zion!

C                  D                    G
How will we sing YHWH's Song
C       D      Em
In a foreign land?

C     D            C            Em
If I forget you oh Jerusalem
                   D
Let my right hand
                C
Forget it's skill
           D         C        Em
If I do not remember you

Let my tongue cling
           C              G
To the roof of my mouth
Em               C           Em
If I do not exalt Jerusalem
    D                  C
Above my chief joy.

     G               A
Remember O YHWH
     C                       D
Against the Sons of Edom
C
The day
D            Em
Of Jerusalem

Who said,
Destroy it, Destroy it!
C                       D
To it's very foundation
C                       D
Oh daughter of Babylon
         C                     Em
Who are to be destroyed

      D         C
Happy the one
             G                          A
Who repays you as you've served us

C               D
Happy the one
          G               C
Who dashes your little ones

Against the rock!

You are Love

You are Love

D     A   G                       A
You are Love beyond all reason
        D                   G
And Hope beyond degree
                             A
And maybe just to prove it
                 G                         D
You came down and died for me

And I wish that I were like a child

That only knew Your Love
                          A
And didn't understand it

But received it like a hug

D      A   G                     A
Then I'd wrap my arms around this world
         D              G
Like You did at the Cross
                                A
And gave rest to the weary
            G                 D
And Salvation to the Lost

D    A     G           A
For Your Love exceeds the power
      D                     G
Of hatred, lead, or steel
                                A
And even overcame the grave
               G                         D
So Your Truth could be revealed

D    A  G                A
And if Dr King first had a dream
    D                        G
I guess I've got one too
                                                A
That all the world would know Your Love
               G                    D
And just give their life to You

D     A   G
You are Love!

Fulfillment of Prophecy

Fulfillment of Prophecy

I prophesied at the beginning of this year that there would be an east wind.  There has been an unprecedented number of tornadoes this year that have done great damage.  I prophesied that the tides would rise.  Most of the Midwest has been under water for a week or so.  I prophesied that a love of wine and oil (aka pleasure and materialism) would result in a rising cost of bread and water.  I explained that this was a physical manifestation of a spiritual lack of spiritual bread and spiritual water.  Now all of these things are happening.  There is one more thing that will happen.  This judgment will result in National revival of more than 50 thousand people.  This is already scheduled to occur as I heard on Trinity Broadcast Network last evening (Friday June 20 2008).

I am getting used to being laughed at and run out of churches.  Laugh at me, fine, but do not laugh at Jesus (Yeshua) because He is coming back soon.  Sooner than you are ready for.  He promises that if you beat and abuse those over whom you are in authority that He will come on a day when you are engaged in this activity and tear you in peices  (Luke 12:45-46).  Isn't this what we are doing as Americans when we are drunken on our materialism, power, and pride and abusing the other 2 thirds of the world?

America we must stop the murder of 5000 unborn per day.  We must stop the mass eugenics and mistreatment of homeless people which I have seen with my own eyes and experienced first hand.  We must stop the mass drug and alcohol use of legal and illegal narcotics.  We must stop the materialistic mammon worship.  We must stop basing policy on pseudo science derived from a misinformed notion that we are evolved from monkeys.  We must repent from this false religion and pseudo science which is part of the mystery whore Babylon.  We must stop the sexual immorality and pornography that has led to the degeneration of marriage to the point where homosexual union is considered legal and normal.  If I am not a prophet and I am not right about these things then how did I know what would happen in 2008 before it happened?

Laugh at me but do not laugh at Jesus (Yeshua).  Answer The Call.  August 16, 2008 at Washington Mall.  Be there in Spirit and in Truth.  You heard me plea the Blood over America in the song In America?.  It is this Blood shed by Yeshua the Messiah on the Tree of Galgotha that can set this nation free.  How can you stand for a Nation if you yourself are sinking in the mire?  Your hope is the same, the Blood.  Receive it now it's as simple as ABC.

Feel free to contact me with your thoughts at michaelholliranck@yahoo.com

On Judgment

On Judgment

Why do we fear judgment so?  A judgment can be good and righteous if it is made by a good and righteous judge.  A judgment can be the end of the world or the beginning of a new life.  With one word and the pound of a gavel an entire course of life can change for the better or the worse.

So it is with the prophesy that I gave in the song When the East Wind Blows.  When the statement is made, "When the judgment comes..."  It has not been people that have been judged.  It has been property.  I see so many touching stories on TV of Midwesterners banning together in name of Yeshua.  One woman said, "I don't know why God did this to me but I will ALWAYS follow Him."  She showed the nation that we don't need our materialistic idols.  That is what we need to show.  It hurt her to loose everything that she owned but she still had her Messiah.  She blessed me so much when I heard her say what she said on the TV.

Later I saw some guys rescuing a baby fawn.  With so much property damage all around they took time to save a helpless deer.  What a demonstration of Love!  The judgment that YHWH has brought to America is going to bring revival.  I can feel it and see it through spiritual eyes of faith.

I am sorry for the losses that people have had this year but I am blessed if I see revival.  I love America and it's high time we got back to being who we were meant to be.  One of God's chosen.

Likewise if you do not know the Messiah then judgment is not the same for you.  When you lose everything then you will be left alone with nothing to hold on to.  Yet the Messiah is calling out to you.  If you will answer the Call then He will show you what is better than stuff.  It's as easy as ABC.  Send me an email if you want to talk about it michaelholliranck@yahoo.com.  God loves you.

Outstretched Still
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Outstretched Still

America
I warned you not to go this way
America
My little lamb has gone astray
America
I wait for you
With Outstretched Arms

Will Your List of idols hear your cries
Or will they cry out to you for more oil
And all the while my jealous Blood begins to boil
With Love for you
With Love for you

America
I warned you not to go this way
America
My little lamb has gone astray
America
I wait for you
With Outstretched Arms

Chapter 2 : Not Hide and Seek but Pray and Seek

Chapter 2 : Not Hide and Seek but Pray and Seek

In the garden Adam and Eve hid themselves from their Creator, because of their sin, but thanks be to YHWH, because of the atoning sacrifice of His Son, Yeshuah the Messiah, we are able to come boldly before His throne of Grace.  I tend to think of my relationship with Messiah in terms of a marriage and this allegory has a very strong scriptural basis ().  With that being said, it is common sense that a marriage without communication is a rocky one.  The Messiah ought to be consulted on any matter that would be appropriate to consult a best friend or a spouse.  This is the essence of prayer.  It is a continual dialog between the betrothed, believer, and Messiah, the Bridegroom.  Prayer is not speaking to the air.  It is a dialouge.  When you pray expect answers.  More often than not the one who ought to be silent is the human half of this arrangement but there are times when Messiah will say nothing other than, "Be still."

Enter into the Closet

A marriage that is in public only is no marriage at all.  Imagine a bride who flaunted her husband at every public opportunity being careful to be seen on his arm in front of all the right people.  Out and about she says exactly the right things to draw notice to herself and just who it is to whom she is wed.

At home though like a chameleon she changes color.  Cold and frigid as a reptilian she gives no affection.  He calls to her and she does not answer him.  He reaches a hand toward her and she pulls away.  He is forced to endure the pretense of love only to daily face the reality of a romance grown icy or a marriage that bears all the outward signs of being vital but in reality it never has been.

Like a marraige, away from the public eye in the privacy and confines of the human heart is where intimate relationship with Messiah takes place through prayer.  According to the words of Messiah:

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites.  For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men.  Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.  But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Matthew 6:5,6

It is alone with out anyone other than Messiah that prayer becomes personal.  This is where it is discovered what hinders relationship.  This is where the decision is made to draw closer to Messiah or take chances with presumptuous sin.  This is most assuredly where the Prayer of Examination is prayed.  King David is most remembered for modeling this prayer with his utterance, "...See if there be any wicked way in me and lead my in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23,24).  In order to preserve intimacy with Messiah this prayer is essential.  It is painful.  It always has been painful and it will be painful.  However it is also necessary.  The Prayer of Examination invites Messiah to purge idolatry and clear out the heart.  The Prayer of Examination invites the refining process.  This is the process by which YHWH uses difficulty in order to expose sin and bring about excellence.

It is also in the closet that prayer of repentence is prayed.  The Prayer of Examination leads to the Prayer of Repentance.  Psalm 32  is all about the Prayer of Repentance.  The Prayer of Repentance is more than a confession of sin coupled with a vain promise to quit sinning.  Instead it is invitation on the part of the believer extended to Messiah to teach understanding of why this sin is so wrong.  It is an invitation for guidance and strength.  It is an admission of personal weakness which concedes, "I can't but you can."  All too often the Prayer of Repentance is seen as negative yet it is really a bitter sweet experience.  Yes, it could be seen as having to give up something but it could also be seen as getting to be liberated from something.  True, it could be thought of as admitting wrong but it also could be considered as discovering righteouness.  It is casting away plastic beads in exchange for spotless diamonds.  It is exchanging darkness for light.  It is abandoning bondage for liberty.  It is favoring truth over a lie.  It is the essence of the Christian Life.

This cycle of examination, refining, and repentance, called transformation, ought to continue throughout the entire life of the believers of Messiah.  The makings of a hypocrite according to Messiah is not about appearance to man but appearance before YHWH.  It is not about the ratio of sinfulness to righteousness or good deeds to bad.  Instead it is about honesty and intamacy.  Where the world suggests to come out of the closet,  Messiah requires us to invite Him in for spring cleaning.  So that a life style of Pray and Seek must of necessity begin and end in the closet.

How to Pray

There is no formula to prayer.  Prayer is conversation and conversation is a natural human characteristic.  Monkeys do not converse well however humans in general have a natural born propensity toward conversation.  Think how much time school teachers spend trying to stop it.  They inevitably fail to keep up with the notes, the sign language, and the lip reading.  To converse is as natural to human beings as breathing and so much so that solitary confinement is affective punishment for breaking ones will.  Likewise, people punish one another with the silent treatment.

This natural sense of communication also extends to prayer.  Since man and woman were created for fellowship with their Creator how to fellowship with him is quite natural.  On the flip, because of sin, there are often impediments to prayer.  These are not natural but are the result of inappropriate attitudes.  It would be too severe to say that these wrong attitudes prevent prayer but they often hinder it's effectiveness.

Effective prayer should begin with faith().  Hebrews 11:6 is emphatic, "without faith it is impossible to please God."  Imagine a conversation that begins, "I don't know if I can trust you but..."  Clearly before it begins the conversation is already in trouble.  Why would anyone confide in someone that could not be trusted?  Likewise, why would anyone respond favorably to not being trusted?

Still, a lack of faith, of necessity, cannot be a show stopper to prayer.  In order to avoid a "catch 22", a plunge must be made.  Such was the case with the man who cried out to Messiah, "Help my unbelief" ().  Additionally there are ways to build faith. Faith comes through reading the Bible ().  Recounting the ways in which YHWH has been faithful leads naturally to faith in Him.  As we are entering the last days it is important to keep a journal or log of YHWH's faithfulness on a personal level.  This can be referenced during times of doubt.  Praise in general builds faith for what is praise but a review of the best qualities of the Almighty.  Assuredly this praise does not have to be in song.  YHWH's goodness could be recounted in lyrical form by a poet ().  It could be recounted as a simple list of "thank yous" ().  It could be stroked on to a canvas or modeled in clay ().  A geek might list every physics formula that brings him comfort ().  If YHWH got gravity right can't He handle the lives of His creation?

Persistance is an important element to prayer ().  In fact James goes as far as to suggest ferverance in prayer ().  Perhaps this persistence is for our benefit rather than for the Most High.  Daniel had asked YHWH for the interpretation of a vision yet it took 21 days of persistent prayer to receive an answer because the daemon in charge of Persia tried to stop the angel who delivered Daniel's answer ().  It is unlikely that persistence somehow "nagged" YHWH into doing  as Daniel desired but it is more likely that persistence kept Daniel watching for the answer.

Instant readiness is a proper attitude for prayer ().  This attitude grows as relationship continues.  Essentially it must be possible to talk to YHWH about anything without hesitation.  Certainly end times will require this.  One of the greatest hindrances to instant readiness is unforgiveness.  This could be towards YHWH, towards another, or towards self.  Irregardless it causes hesitation in prayer.  Should the need arise to pray for another there will not be time in the last days to ponder whether he deserves prayer.  Prayer must be instantly provided.  There will not be time to grapple with whether you want to talk to a "cruel Eloheem" who has caused harm, pain, or injustice.  These things will come.  They have been warned of before hand ().  They are no the fault of the Creator but of sin.  There will not be time to stew with false humility or self pity.  What has been done has been done.  The focus should be on Messiah and not on self ().

Good prayers ought to be sober and effectual as opposed to silly and frivolous ().  This is not the say that the miraculous ought to be discounted.  The power of YHWH is not in question.  What makes a prayer sober is that it is in line with what Messiah desires ().  Another way to think about it is to consider whether the fulfillment of the prayer would really bring about any good.  Often people pray for a million dollars but such prayers are seldom manifested because they are silly and would probably do more harm than good.

Often if a prayer is silly or frivolous consider the true need.  In praying for a dead loved one to be raised what is probably more sober is healing especially if the loved one is known to be with Messiah.  In praying for money what is more sober might be provision or protection.

The scriptures make many references to unity in prayer ().  In fact before the early church was given the "go ahead" to begin evangelizing the first century world they were required to linger until they were in one accord ().  In end times there will not be time for quibbling and bickering between family members or fellow believers ().  When prayers are to be made consensus must be reached and quickly.

Yes, it is true that lines of authority are useful in obtaining unity.  Children must trust their parents judgment ().  Wives must submit to their husbands ().  Men ought to greatly consider the leadership of the fellowship to which a family belongs ().  Also those in authority ought to be willing to listen to the legitimate needs of their flock and improvise plans accordingly ().  Ultimately the authority who brings unity is Yeshuah the Messiah ().

In order for a group of believers to reach any kind of consensus on petitions being made in prayer each and every member of the group must have a vital prayer life.  This means they must be in continual fellowship with Messiah.  They must constantly seek His face so that coming together they will already begin coming into agreement.

If unity is still difficult then it is written that, "The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty" (Proverbs 18:8).  It is also written that, "The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD (Proverbs 16:33).  It is likely not wise to settle disputes with a vote since there is no biblical model for this.  Although we are all accustomed to democracy it is not well suited to crises situations nor is it a wise way to determine truth.  In the end however a vote is better than disunity in prayer and certainly better than apostasy.

Obviously the authority on which decisions ought to be based is the written scriptures.  Determining a good translation is beyond the scope of this book.  However a few translations that are acceptable are KJV, NKJV, and NIV.  Not all translations are created equal and some are outright heresy.  The authority of scripture trumps any pastor.  It trumps the man of the house.  It precludes the casting of lots and it is greater than any majority.

Regardless there will be disagreement as to it's meaning and this can be minimized be each and every member of the group having a vital prayer life.  Additionally if a group member is constantly at odds with the rest of the group perhaps he is not wrong but only in the wrong group.  Peter and Paul had such a disagreement over adherence to ceremonial law ().  Neither was wrong.  Peter had the right answer for the Jews and Paul had the correct answer for the Gentiles.  Both understood that ceremonies don't bring redemption.

Inseperable from unity is submissiveness which is also a indispensable tenet of a successful prayer life ().  The book of Ephesians speaks much of submissiveness.  The key to this is love and having the mindset of Messiah according to Philippians 2:1-11.  I John says, "How can you love God whom you have not seen if you do not love your brother who you have seen?" ()  Submissiveness comes easy where there is love.  When there is not love following the guidelines of the book of Ephesians can provide an atmosphere conducive to submissiveness in which love can grow.  John 15 is an allegory where Messiah describes Himself as a vine in which all who abide will bear the fruit of love.  The beginning of all submissiveness is to submit to Messiah which will result automatically in the submission to all who ought to receive deference.

Also related to submissiveness and unity is having authority.  Without it prayer is not only hindered but really not even possible.  Authority comes in the name of Yeshuah the Messiah.  Because He is the Son of YHWH, He is all powerful and all things are under His feet.  All of these same rights and privileges are passed to His followers individually.  This is a great power with a catch.  It's a bit like a Power of Attorney.  With the name of Yeshua you can do anything as long as He wants you to do it.  So with His name a believer may pray anything that he wants prayed.  Although there are limits this truly is close to being a blank check drawn on the account of the Most High already signed by His Son.

Messiah said, "I do nothing of myself but the will of the Father that I do" ().  Likewise He said, "...The Comforter...will testify of me" ().  The Comforter is another name for the Spirit of God.  He is also called the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost.  In Hebrew He is called the Qedosh Ruwach.  The Ruwach indwells the believer as a seal, that is a bit like an engagement ring, that guarantees that Messiah will return for him ().  The Ruwach also instructs the believer in day to day life (which will be explained later in this chapter).  In order to act with proper authority requires the believer to join the Ruwach in testifying of Messiah who is demonstrating the will of the Father.  So prayer has a lot more to do with listening that it does talking.  Since it is essentially asking YHWH for the things that He wants you to ask of Him.

In many ways prayer is like a short article my wife read from Victoria magazine which stated, "When taking tea with the Queen don't worry about what to say she will guide the conversation" ().  So Messiah has guided us with His model prayer known as the Lord's Prayer.

The Lord's Prayer began with acknowledgement.  It began, "Our Father who are in heaven" ().  This opening signifies a mindset of knowing to whom is being spoken.  The Father would not be Sophia, Dianna, Zeuss, Allah, or any of the other pantheon of false gods to include Lucifer.  This simple acknowledgment of knowing to whom is spoken will be exceedingly more important in end times as idolatry grows exponentially like a cancer.

Likewise the acknowledgment continues with "hallowed be thy name" ().  Hallowed which is related to the Hebrew "Qadesh" means pronounced clean.  This is a title of recognition which demonstrates the one spoken to is in a class with other.  Things that set Him apart are that, He is Creator and He is Love.  He alone is Pure.  He alone is the Qedosh Yishra'el.  Although it need not be spelled out all explicitly at each and every prayer.  It really must be decided in the heart to who is spoken before prayer begins.

The prayer then leads into surrender.  The next line being, "Thy Kingdom Come.  Thy will be done" ().  This is the appropriate mindset.  There has been a predetermination that the plans of the Father are right and therefore it is pointless to try to change them.  The true objective is to realize them.

Following this is a request for provision for both physical and spiritual nourishment.  The supplication is to, "Give us this day our daily bread" ().  These six simple words will be uttered in so many ways during these coming times as it becomes apparent that the normal sources of nourishment will not be available.  People will be forced to recognize who the source is.  Failing to realize this will most assuredly result in spiritual and/or physical mortality.  For many, who are starving or dissatisfied with their spiritual  and/or physical bread, will realize that they are hard pressed to blame the Father for not providing, a provision for which they did not ask ().  Bosses and pastors do not feed the sheep the Father does ().

Continuing on the prayer turns towards repentance coupled with a request for forgiveness.  The words are, "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors" ().  There is an implication here, as is so many places stated in scripture, that un-forgiveness on the part of the petitioner can inhibit forgiveness on the part of the Father ().

Although the word on the street is, "getting even", this can never really be accomplished.  All attempts at vengeance lead to a cycle of never ending dissatisfaction.  It can never be enough until the Cross is remembered.  Every debt has been paid by the brutal execution of Messiah ().  Golgotha was meant to be the Universal Punishment for all sin.  If it is not received what other punishment is there?  Will Messiah come down and be crucified all over again ()?  In order to accept  that His sacrifice is sufficient for personal sin, it must be acceptable for all sin.  To not accept this sacrifice is to deem the Son of YHWH unworthy ().  This is an all or nothing proposal.

During the last days there will be betrayals by loved ones, family, and friends ().  There will be no end to the murder, sin, and pain ().  It is imperative to settle the issue of Universal Forgiveness in the heart now because the time is short and the days are evil.  Survival hinges on an attitude like that of Elizabeth Elliot who preached the Gospel to the very ones who murdered her husband.  She knew more than most how hard the words of Messiah came, when He said, "Father forgive them , for they know not what they do."

Immediately following the petition for repentance is a petition for protection.  "Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.", are the words of the request ().  In the last days there is no calling the police when it is the police from whom deliverance is needed.  There is no help from the government and many religious leaders will be false teachers ().  Even the members of your own house will be your enemy ().  Psalm 88 reads like the events of every day life.  As with all manner of provision it is essential to determine in the heart, now, who the source of all protection is for YHWH Sabaoth is His Name.  He is the Captain of the Hosts and with a word He calls down ten thousand angels ().

Still it is difficult for any general to protect a soldier who takes unnecessary risks.  So when a request is made, "Lead me not into temptation", the implication is that this General's lead must be followed.  "Pet sins" should be quickly abandoned as end times will be a dangerous time to try to obtain cigarettes, beer, or pornography.  There will be no room for materialism when daily bread is scarce.  Adultery means more relationships which could be treacherous and which will definitely cause greater seditions.  Idolatry causes confusion at a time when one General must be followed or abandoned.  In these days leading toward the last there is no time like the present to choose!

After asking for protection from the Father His power is remembered and surrendered to, yet again, with the utterance, "For thine is the Kingdom, th Glory, and Power.  Forever and ever" ().  What a total relief t know!  The universe is completely in the hands of the Father and no one needs to have absolute responsibility for their own life.  It is perfectly acceptable to surrender to the Father anything past human understanding and even required.  This surrender is to the Father, who has the Power to act and furthermore that the Power lasts for eternity.

Such trust could be terrifying were it not earned.  However This trust is earned.  It has been confirmed.  In the opening of the prayer.  He is referred to as the Father and therefore he who prays it is a son or daughter.  Furthermore His dedication was confirmed by His willingness to lay down His own life and His Power by His resurrection from the dead.  He can!  He does and He will!

The prayer ends with agreement as the word, "Amen", is derived from a Hebrew acronym meaning, "So be it" ().  No change has come on the part of the timeless Father who changes not ().  The petition has agreed to allow the Father to do what He has determined to do since before time began which is to Love His creation.

Chapter 1 : Trading Your Cotton Socks for Wool

Section I : Relationship with Eloheem

Chapter 1 : Trading Your Cotton Socks for Wool

Amongst the throng of backpackers there is almost universal acceptance that wearing cotton socks while hiking any significant trail especially during cool or damp weather is something that only a newbie or a wanna-be-hiker would do.  Therefore backpackers have taken to calling these novices, "Cotton Socks", in much the same way that military men call newly enlisted recruits rainbows, slicks, or skeeters.

Nearly all books on the subject of backpacking contain some discourse to the importance of woolen socks on the trail and yet invariably some greenhorns will try to beat the odds and wearing, nothing but cotton socks and a Booey Knife attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail alone in the dead of winter only to be discovered in the spring by the rangers as a pile of bones scavenged off of by the wolves for the whole of winter.

In the military the phrase, "It's the little things that will ding you.", was drilled into us daily from the moment we stepped off the bus in Lackland until the day we hung our BDU's in the closet for moth food.  So it is with woolen socks.  The only difference between a drowned man and a saved one is whether or not he grabbed the life preserver.  Whether or not a car can be driven at 80 mph is decided by the insignificant turning of a key.  The beginning of World War III begins with the effortless simultaneous turning of two keys by two Butter Bars in the midwest.  Life and death is decided by the pulling of a trigger.  A new life begins and an old life changes because of an interchange that may take no more than five minutes.

Likewise your success or failure at surviving all times including end times hinges upon an act of acceptance that is as simplistic as the changing of cotton socks for woolen (and I unapologetically refer to you, my dear reader, in the second person despite my English teacher's dismay, because this is a personal plea from my heart to yours).  Your success depends upon the acceptance of an offer by your Creator to begin a personal relationship with Himself through the Blood Atoning Sacrifice of His Son.  In Greek His Name is called Jesus Christ.  In Hebrew His Name is called Yeshuah the Messiah.

Although it seems to go without saying that a relationship between creature and Creator is as natural as the relationship between father and son, the relationship between the Creator and all of His creation was abruptly severed by the idolatrous taking of the Fruit of Conscience by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden ().  This little thing dinged all of humanity beginning with expulsion from the Garden of Eden and reaching it's consummation at the Battle of Armageddon where the blood shed will be as deep as a horses bridle ().  Death is always the end of sin ().

So as offspring from Adam and Eve your separation from your Creator was as inevitable as mine.  Beginning with the birth we contained the innate desire to sin passed to us by our parents and from the moment that we knowingly committed evil our relationship with our Creator was severed.  From the time that you knowingly lied about another, stole, dishonored your parents, wanted something that wasn't yours, worked on the Sabbath, called Jesus name without wanting Him, or made a false god with your hands then you became separated from your Creator and in need of relationship with Him.

Your severed relationship with Him grew into an emptiness which you vainly tried to fill.  One way that you may have tried was by attempting to impress Him with good works or ceremonies but this will not succeed ().  Another way that you may have attempted to repair this brokenness was by looking within but you only found more brokenness and emptiness ().  Also you may have sought pleasure and escape but it will only lead to bondage and destruction and inevitable emptiness ().  You may have tried controlling your environment through technology, majick, psychology, or other means but your own-self you could not control ().  You may have sought to ignore Him by denying His existence much like a child saying, "la... la... la... I can't hear you!", but the emptiness and sense of longing was too great and too real ().  In fact you were created for relationship and you are far too intelligent and far too valuable to deny it any longer!

Jesus Loves you and so the Passion.  The Passion is the name given to the string of events leading up to the Crucifixion of Messiah.  Messiah was neither Crucified by Jew nor Greek.  He was Crucified by all of us and none of us.  Do you think that the Son of YHWH could be killed without allowing Himself to be?  He was killed by Love.  He was slain by Passion.  It was by His Passion for us all.  Passion is what is required to restore any broken relationship.

The Cross satisfied several key ingredients for the restoration of the relationship between you and your Creator.  Firstly it was an unquestionable display of Passion which forever dispelled the lie told by the serpent in the Garden of Eden that we are not loved by our Creator and that He wishes to keep us from knowledge that makes us divine.  Secondly it proves that knowledge did not make us divine because Messiah rose from the grave and could not be killed by men.  Thirdly it provided justice for our sins because if anyone asks why you were not punished for your sin then you simply point to the Cross.  Fourthly it provided judgment for Satan because his lie in the Garden led to the death of YHWH's own Son.  Fifthly it provided you with Hope because if YHWH could raise His Son from the grave then He can do the same for us all.  Sixthly that all covenants are sealed with blood even a marriage covenant by the blood of a virgin bride.  Seventhly that it satisfied the stripping away of the flesh as Jesus body was killed and replaced with the Glorified body at the resurrection.  So for these reasons and many more that need not be understood it was necessary for Messiah to die so that we might live.

Yet just as you need not understand the inner workings of an internal combustion engine in order to drive a car but only how to turn a key, likewise you need not understand the Doctrine of Propitiation in order to be saved but simply ask your Creator for relationship through the Atoning Sacrifice of His Son.

The most beautiful and destructive of all life changing events begin and end with a word.  If you take away all of the decoration, celebration, and ceremony of a wedding you essentially have something akin to the wedding scene from the movie Brave Heart where William Wallace and his young bride essentially say to one another, "I will love you and no other".  With the utterance of those simple words they were joined forever.  Yet we live in a society that does not appreciate the power of words.  We often mispeak.  We often lie.  So you must be careful that you speak from the heart what is truth but essentially the words that reconnect us with our Creator are: "For the salvation of my soul I will trust Yeshuah the Messiah and no other."

Like the turning of the key that starts a car there are obviously processes occurring under the hood that you may not understand but to you it is simply the turning of the key.

How is it that something so simple was continually stated by Messiah to be so difficult?  For example it was said, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven" ().  It was stated, "Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees you will by no means enter the Kingdom of Heaven" ().  It was said, "Consider the cost of building a tower." ().  Essentially this is because the two most difficult couplets in the English language to say are: "I'm Sorry" and "I do."  For the rich man to receive the Gift of Grace he must give up trusting in his riches and say to Messiah, "I will trust in You and no other."  For a self righteous person to enter the Kingdom, he must say to Messiah, "I am a white sepulcher with dead man's bones inside and I will trust in Your Righteousness and no other."  Another way to think of it is that you must make the decision to drive the car rather than walk.  The road to heaven is not a road that you can walk.  Messiah must carry you and you must ask Him to do so.

Summary

In summary coming into a relationship with your Creator is the only way to survive end times.  It is the only way to survive all times.  A life lived apart from your Creator is a wasted life.  Continuing a path apart from your Creator will result in an exceedingly strained relationship and eventual eternal separation of perpetual torment in a lake of fire and brimstone with the rest of His enemies.  Yet restoring this relationship is as easy as ABC.

Accept that you are a sinner, separated from your Creator and in need of redemption from hell.

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Psalms 14:3

And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.  And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him,  Where are thou?

Genesis 3:8-9

The wicked will be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Psalms 9:17

Believe in your heart that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of your Creator.  He paid the penalty for your sin on the Cross and He rose up from the grave triumphing over death and hell.

See Appendix A for a list of Messianic Prophecies fulfilled by Yeshuah.

According to Michael Brown, a Jew who has received Yeshuah as Messiah, "There's a rabbinic tradition preserved in the Talmud that says on the Day of Atonement there were three different signs that the animal sacrifices the high priest offered had been accepted by God and atonement given to the nation.  In the years when the signs would come up negative, the people would be ashamed and morn, because God had not accepted their sacrifice."

Then it says that during the last forty years before the second temple was destroyed, all three signs were negative each and every time.  Think about that: Jesus probably was crucified in AD 30, and the temple was destroyed in AD 70.  So from the time of his death to the time of the destruction of the temple - a period of forty years - God signaled that he no longer accepted the sacrifices and offering of the Jewish people.  Why?  Because final atonement had been made through Yeshua, just as he had prophesied."  (Strobel 201)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Confess that Yeshuah is the Messiah the Son of your Creator and you receive the Grace that He offers through His death and ressurection.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue : and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:21

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Joel 2:32

For thou, Lord good, and ready to forgive; and plentious in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Psalm 86:7

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:9,10

Many find it useful to make this confession in the form of a prayer popularized by Billy Graham called the sinners prayer.  It goes something like this:

Father, forgive me, a sinner worthy of hell.  Wash me in the Blood of  the Lamb, Yeshuah the Messiah.  Receive me, just as I am without one plea but that thy Blood was shed for me.  In the Name of Your Son Yeshua the Messiah I pray.  So be it.

Now What?

Now welcome to the family.  I wish I could say that things would now be easier but in fact they won't.  We are living in a dark age and things are getting darker all of the time which is what prompted you to read this book to begin with.  For one thing the family that you are now a part of is made up of many varieties of "black sheep" all trusting in Messiah for their salvation, just as you have.  So you are likely to meet some unlikable people as you reach out.  I encourage you to do so anyway.  Contained in Appendix B are the mainstream Christian doctrines that make up the core of Christian beliefs.  You ought to begin your new relationship by familiarizing yourself with these doctrines and by joining a local fellowship of believers that aligns themselves with these doctrines.

The first command Messiah gives us as new believers is to be baptized ().  Baptism is essentially being dunked under water in front of the church as an outward sign that you are washed of your sin.  Baptism is a happy time of rejoicing.  Many churches follow a baptismal service with a dinner or a get together.  Baptism is the first step in obedience to Messiah and therefore essential to getting this relationship off on the right foot.

In order to understand more of the Bible most new believers are encouraged to begin by reading the Gospel of John which is considered the most "user friendly" of the Gospels.  It provides a good starting point for the teachings of Messiah and allows its readers to experience the humanity of Messiah better than other Gospels.

In order to answer doubts you may experience you should consider the epistle of I John.  This epistle, which was primarily written for the purpose of exposing false gnostic doctrines, is a good source material for discerning between a true or false conversion experience.

As you read these scriptures don't panic.  Use a Strongs Exhaustive Concordance to check the original meaning of words.  Always ask questions of other more seasoned followers of YHWH and His Son Yeshuah the Messiah especially if you find anything that you learn scary or strange.  Inevitably you will have found at least ten other believers who have had similar questions at some point during their spiritual growth.

Also this book will guide you in your spiritual journey and help you, my dear reader, to grow strong in the three areas of your life including: spiritual, emotional, and physical.  So that you can, "...Be ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Matthew 24:44).

Introduction

Barney is the Anti-Christ!  I know it's hard to believe but my numerology is unmistakable.  Likewise the Internet has been buzzing about it for some time.  Where it is true that these claims are not shared by respected eschatologists the Bible clearly teaches that the fools of this world will confound the wise.

If you begin by first transliterating his name into the Greek that language of the Revelator, as Âáñíéå and continue by subscribing a numeric equivalent according to lexicographical order you achieve 2-1-17-18-9-5.  Obviously the sum of those numbers is 52.  The sum those digits is 7.  Multiplying this by 6 we find our first encoded 6 and achieve a product of 42.  The sum of those digits is 6.  Multiplying this by 6 we discover our second encoded 6 and obtain the product of 36.  Clearly the sum of these digits is 9.  Taking 9 together with 6 we obtain the product of 54 and discover our third and final encoded 6.  We recognize that we have reached the final 6 because the sum of 5 and 4 is again 9, representing a loop terminator which every good hacker knows marks the end of a linked list.  Barney is the Anti-Christ.

As if that's not conclusive evidence then consider some other facts.  As prophesied in I Thessalonians 5:3, Barney is constantly promising peace only to have it swept away by the sudden destruction wrought by toddlers who know how to rewind.  Barney is clearly a beast not unlike described in Revelation 12 as a dragon.  Whenever the evil dragon opens his mouth a flood of ghastly and I might add phony happiness comes most often in the form of the "I Love You" song.  Thankfully and by the Grace of God the earth opens it's mouth and swallows up that horrid noise usually with the ringing of the telephone.  Lest unsuspecting stay at home moms and sometimes dads be drawn in to renounce Christ and take the mark just so they can go to hell where they can have a little more peace and quiet.

Further more there's that nose.  Revelation 17:9 has constantly been interpreted to represent that Anti-Christ would be of Roman descent.  I think it would be fair to assume that purple or not that nose is as Roman as Caesar.

There is no need to fear however according to Daniel 7:22 Barney's days are numbered.  Jesus has placed all things under His feet and when He who is in the Hebrew called Yeshuah the Messiah returns then Barney will meet his end as will this terrible scholarship!

Without   saying we know that the claim of Barney as Anti-Christ is felacious.  I make no claim endorsing or renouncing the quality or morality of the purple entertainer but I guarantee you that he is not the Anti-Christ.

Sadly such scholarship is not limited to my poor attempts at comedy.  In fact history is replete with wild speculation as to the identity of Anti-Christ and also outlandish deception of the same.  Most commonly the objective of these has been to quite literally demonize a political adversary.  The bizarre truth is that this has been extremely effective.  The adage that a sucker is born everyday seems to be true.  At least there are enough people, who are not willing or able to accomplish the required scholarship to debunk these plethora or claims, to generate enough public opinion needed in order for these less than scrupulous individuals to succeed.

Therefore I have determined not to insult the intelligence of my readers by adding to the ever growing list of false Anti-Christ claims requiring debunking.  Instead I choose to obey with my heart the command given by Yeshuah the Messiah during the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24:44) where he charges His followers to watch for His return.  In fact the importance of searching for Anti-Christ pales next to the importance of looking for Messiah.  Anti-Christ is only mentioned in Scripture a little less than two dozen times and usually as a concept of continual attempts by Messiah's enemies to lead His lambs away from search for relationship into a search for knowledge.  Scripture does also clearly point to Anti-Christ as an individual who embodies the culmination of all evil but his focus is quite limited like a passing fad or a pimple on the face of eternity.  In fact he is referred to at one point as "He Who Was and Is Not" (Revelation 17:8).

By contrast Messiah is referred to as "He Who Is, and Was, and Is to Come" (Revelation 1:8).  Likewise Messiah is the central theme of the entirety of all scripture in stark victory over Anti-Christ.  Furthermore Messiah is the central figure of the Universe itself which was created by Him and for Him (Hebrews 1:2).

So join me as we prepare to, "...be ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." (Matthew 24:44).

This Side of the Sea
One minute this song was not and the next minute it was.  God dumped it into my head while I was working setting up tents.  I was working with a coal miner and a Vietnam Vet.  It represents all the things that America ought to say.  I don't know why we don't maybe we're too scared like I am.

NOTE: My apologees.  The actual statistic is not 5000 pounds but 500 pounds of coal that are saved by replacing an incandescent lamp by a flourescent lamp.  The metaphorical meaning is still preserved.  That is that it takes a lot of hard work to let the light of Yeshua shine before men in us.

This Side of the Sea

G
Ol' coal miner
C
Deep down in the mine
G
Diggin' up coal
C
To keep the lights online
G D
Five thousand pounds of it
G C
Just to make one light bulb shine
D G
Closest thing to Yeshua that I'll ever see
C
On this side of the sea
D C
Keep your light of Hope shining bright for me
D G
For all the world to see

G
Migrant worker
C
Three jobs at a time
G
Never gets sleep
C
Just tryin' to tow the line
G D
Everybody laughs at him
G C
But You know what is True
D G
Closest thing to Yeshua that I'll ever see
C
On this side of the sea
D C
Keep your light of Hope shining bright for me
D G
For all the world to see

G
Hard core soldier
C
Fightin' for our land
G
Layin' down his life
C
Givin' all he can
G D
Back home they spit on him
G C
The way we spit on You
D G
Closest thing to Yeshua that I'll ever see
C
On this side of the sea
D C
Keep your light of Hope shining bright for me
D G
For all the world to see

G D C D
Oh my Sweet Redeemer how I long to be
G C
On the far side of the sea
D
Where You'll reach out with Your Big Hand
G C
And squeeze the shoulders of these men
D G C
With teary eyes of compassion You'll look on them in Love
G
And You'll say...
G C
Thank You!

Faithfulness of Fingers
This song is about the faithfulness of YHWH and our failure.  Pray for the unborn!

36 yrs of legal infanticide X 365 dys/yr X 5000 babies/day X 10 fingers on a healthy babies hands = ~650 million fingers faithfully delivered by a Loving God.

NOTE: My apologees again for failing to check my facts against my memory.  I will do better in the future.  There have actually been only 34 years of legal infanticide in America.  I mistakingly remembered Roe vs Wade as being in 1971 when it occured in 1973.  This changes the statistic to 620 million.  Big deal.  It will be 650 million soon enough if we don't DO SOMETHING!

Faithfulness of Fingers

E G D
Six-hundred-fifty-million fingers
G A
And six-hundred-fifty-million toes
D G A
Have passed through the fires of molech
G D
To grasp Your Hand in Hope
A G E
And stand upon the Streets of Gold

E G E
Five thousand babies
A G
Each and every day
D G A
In this God Blessed America
G E
Are simply thrown away

G D
Well at least they still have Yeshua
G A
Who cares enough for them
G D
To give a cup of cold water
G E
And teach them how to pray

D G A
'Cause in this God Blessed America
G E
Five thousand babies
G E
Are thrown away...everyday

G D
You can meet me at the flag pole
G A
I'll be at the Cross
G D
Instead of fussing over politics
G A
How 'bout we reach the lost

G D
Just like those scared young parents
G A
Lost and on their own
G D
Who sacrifice their children
G A
Because they just don't know

Yeshua saves

E G D
Well we've passed the blood shed of that short guy

With his crazy mustache

And all day long while they die

This Side of the Sea (Reprise)

America, while we honor the American soldier let us not forget the greatest warrior who laid down His Life for America (Romans 6:22). He is Yehsua the Messiah. He laid down His Life that the world might have a freedom far greater than that can be secured by any Bill of Rights. Thomas Paine said, "America has no rightful King but Jesus Christ." America make Yeshua your King today. Am I talking about Civil Disobedience? Only if praying in the public areana is Civil Disobedience. Only if singing His praises in the work place is Civil Disobedience. Only if refusing to work, shop, or eat out on the Sabbath is Civil Disobedience. Only if homeschooling my children and teaching them to tear down idols, cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the Word of Truth is Civil Disobedience. Only if Displaying the Ten Commandments in my home and in my heart is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling people that dianna and pan are false gods is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America that too many of the books in our nation's libraries and classrooms are utter trash and propaganda and not worthy to be read is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America that most of the magazines, music, and movies that we watch are the same is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America to lay aside the almighty dollar as an idol is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America that she is guilty of the legal murder of 65 million babies is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America that the foundation of the American family and life is one man and one woman together for one lifetime bound together for one lifetime in a three strand cord with Yeshua the Messiah is Civil Disobedience. Only if telling America that Yeshua the Messiah is the One True Son of the Living God, the Qedosh Yisra'el is Civil Disobedience. Only if further telling her that He laid down His Life for her and shed His Blood as an atoning sacrifice for her sins on Golgatha's cruel tree is Civil Disobedience. Only if exclaiming to her that He is Risen and Living in us if so be that we believe in Him is Civil Disobedience.

Are these things Civil Disobedience? Not in the America that I remember and not in the America that I served. Once a soldier always a soldier. I served America once and I will die serving her. I Love her because God Loves her.

Love, Serve, Teach...

This song with it's clear reference to a classic John Cougar Melloncamp song speaks of the vanities of Stardom in the Christian Walk.  Simply put we are to be God pleasers and not crowd pleasers.  We have a job to do (especially you Jessica) which is no where stated so eloquently as in I Timothy, "PREACH THE WORD!"

YHWH Shaloam

There may never be peace in the Middle East until the Thousand Year Reign. Until then God longs to be YHWH Shaloam to Hezbollah, to the Jew, and all who will receive His Mercy and His Grace. This Peace, I truly do not understand. He is as Longfellow discovering that his son had been killed in the Civil War on Christmas Day. He is as those pictured in the Faith Hall of Fame of Hebrews 11. He is the Peace to be cast into prison, devoured by lions, be boiled in oil, or be sawn in half and still know that all is Well with your Soul. What is this mystery of YHWH Shaloam? Many of those who came to understand Him did not live to explain. Many of those who live among us and understand can not explain. But through women like Elizabeth Eliot we know that He is real. YHWH Shaloam we long to know You!

Jamaican Praise Song (Like the Children)

This song came with a vision of many different cultures singing praises to Yeshua together on a beach. The implication of the song to me is of a childlike faith that tears down walls that come from pride in it's many forms including nationalism and denominationalism. The key is relationship with Yehsua which is possible because of what He did for us at Golgatha.

Jamaican Praise Song (Like the Children)

C F
Like the children we will follow You
G C
Like the children we'll trust in You!
F
You who made us; paved the way for us
G C
Heavens Gates are made wide through You
F C
With the chorus of angel's song
G C
In grateful praise as we sing
F C
For Whose Glory we to Him belong
G C
As the Kids of the King

C F
Join the anthem of those before us
G C
Who've seen the pris'ner has been set free
F
Who by the faith in Life Everlasting
G C
Have learned that Grace is a mystery
F C
For by the Blood that was shed for us
G C
The walls will all fall down
F C
When we like children gather 'round His Throne
G C
Casting Crowns on the ground

C F
So let us go forth with loving kindness
G C
And shine His Light so the world can see
F
How the Master who walked among us
G C
Gave His Life on Calv'ry's tree
F C
And by His Pure Spotless Sacrifice
G C
Paid the price for our sin
F C
On the third day He rose from death

My Lord Came Down

What seperates Yehsua from another as God is that He came down to us. For this I am exceedingly grateful because I could not reach Him. To me it is like in the book God's Eye View where the author states, "Lift me up daddy I can't see down here". I'm not ashamed to say that like a child I need a boost on the shoulders of my Maker.

We Go to the Well

On a certain day Jesus shattered the predjudices of the day by asking a Samaritan woman for a drink of water.  Yet it was not a drink that he was after but rather the opportunity to offer to her a better "Living Water".  There is a Living Water and to drink it means to never thirst again.  What have you been drinking?  Does it quench your thirst?  Try God's Word!  After His Word became flesh and dwelt among us, His Word demonstrated His great Love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly.  Now His Word sits at His right side.  He is that "Living Water" if you just believe.

We Go to the Well

D                      C

We go to the well

                                                D

Where those who have departed

                              C

Find Truth and Love

                                    D7

And mercy without end

              G                      C                           D

Where Jesus washes in the cleansing tide

             G                             C                    D

Where every weight has been swept aside

          C                                   D                    C

And those who drink will never thirst inside

        C                     D              G

For this well will never run dry

Qedosh Yisra'el

After a year of searching for a name to distinguish my God from the multitudes of pagan gods, I decided on the favorite title of the prophet Isaiah. This was Qedosh Yisra'el (the Holy God of Israel). Qedosh Yisra'el

Qedosh Yisra'el

em                           G

There is but one God

             D                              em

Who formed us with His Hand

Who spoke into the void

And made the sea and land

                                G           D        A

YHWH There is none besides You

                               G                   D

No one else so Faithful and True

                                 A

We will Worship You

                       em

Qedosh Yisra'el

em                             G

When You inhabit us

            D                                em

And tell about Your Love

           D                           em

Your Son You sent for us

Praise Your Name Jesus

Praise Your Name Jesus

I want to praise your name Jesus

I want to hail you as King

Come in my heart Lord Jesus

I give up everything

Jesus my Lord and Master

Ris'n with healing in His wings

I give up everything

One day You'll come back triumphant

And Your Bride You'll fitfully wed

All of creation will kneel and bow

The Angels the quick and the dead

You are the Rock of all Ages

You are the Sovereign Head

And all things will be as You've said

The fields will break forth into laughter

The hillsides will echo with song

All things will know Your value Lord

And unto whom they belong

For with Your Blood bought redeem-ed

There could be found no wrong

Those who were thine all along

Rejoice Israel
Thoughout the ages people have misunderstood God's nature. Some have worshiped the sun, moon, stars, trees, and even cows.  Don't be deceived these things have no power to save you.  Only Jesus can do that.  The Christian Musician Carman said, "You don't need to look to the stars for your answers when you can look to the very one who made those stars."  So when we look at God's nature we should see the true message that it has for us.  It is not god it declares His Glory.  The trees remind us of Jesus on the Cross embracing us in His Love.  The wind reminds us of the Holy Spirit blowing God's message of Love that Jesus will save you all around the four corners of the earth.  The stars remind us of the multitude of brothers and sisters that we have to surround us even when the remnant is not seen.  The universe is filled with the truth of Jesus because Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father except by Him (John 14:6).

Rejoice Israel

Rejoice(G) children of Israel(D)
The(A) temple veil has been rent(D)
And(G) Love now flood the land(D)

See(D) the trees with branchous arms(G) extended(D)

God(D) Loves you(G), God(A) Loves you(D)

Rejoice(G) children of Israel(D)
The(A) temple veil has been rent(D)
And(G) Love now flood the land(D)

Look(D) now my precious children to(G) the skies(D)

Rejoice(G) children of Israel(D)

Gift or Giver
This song is an example of one of those annoying moments when God is right.  Oh wait, I forgot again.  He's always right.  Essentially the message is for those times when we find our selves praying that God doesn't take "our" ministry away.  We are but vessels that He uses to give His gift to His people.  We don't worship gifts and we don't worship vessels.  We worship Jesus.  He is Lord and Him only will we serve.

Gift or Giver

Is(C) it the gift(A) or the (C)Giver who(G) in each(C) and every way(G)

Hey Kid I Love You!
In throwing one of my famous "spiritual tantrums", I received an unexpected answer which is this song.  Trembling, I realized that the passion of God's Love for me is so intense that anyone who stood in it's way would be rent in peices.  Even I would be a fool to try to stop God from Loving myself.

Hey Kid I Love You!

D                     E
Don't tell Me I can't Love you
G            D                A
Don't tell Me what to do
D                          E
I'm the Father you are My child
       G
I've called you've answered
D                       A
You're a chosen one
G                     D         A
I can Love you if I want to
G            D               A
Don't tell Me what to do
G            D               A
Don't tell Me what to do

D                                           E
What I have purchased you'd call unclean
G                       D              A
Though it's sanctified by my Blood?
D                             E
You'd lie against my Spirit's Seal
G                  D                     A
Calling you apart in Truth and Love?
G
Can't you see you
D                  A
Are a chosen one?
G                    D                       A
Full of Power, Fruitfulness, and Love
G                    D                       A
Full of Power, Fruitfulness, and Love

       G                    D                    A
And trample under foot the Son of God?
       D                        E
And make my Love a common thing
G                     D                           A
As if you could make me not Love you?

Don't Hurt Yourself
          Don't Hurt Yourself

Throughout the universe are knit the laws of nature and nature's God.  With this opening line the post modern mind screams heresy, however indulge me this challenge to the concepts of post modernism.  If you are sure that absolute reality can not be known go to the nearest cliff and walk straight off of it.  Deny yourself food for more than forty days.  Deny yourself food and water for a week or deny yourself air for three minutes.  Although on paper it could be argued that theoretically these may not be catastrophic decisions the mind of anyone remotely acquainted with the universe quickly realizes various truths about it.  Furthermore the prudent mind finds enough "faith" in these truths to deter itself from challenging natural "laws" such as the "law" of gravity.

Indeed it is because of this prudence of great minds such as Newton, Galileo, or Einstein to be mindful of the "natural laws" of the universe that we have put men on the moon.  Galileo was bothered by inconsistencies between the accepted theories of the day and the observation of behaviors in the natural world.  The same could be said of Newton, Einstein, or insert your scientific hero into this slot.  These inconsistencies nagged at these men until it changed their thoughts and minds to theories which eventually became accepted by the majority of the scientific community as likely models for the real universe.  In fact no model of the universe has ever been able to be seriously considered unless it lines up with concrete observations of reality.

"Caveman" might well have stood jumping up and down during the Neolithic period trying to grasp on to the moon and hold on to stars.  All such jumping was vanity as the "law" of gravity refused to yield to the desires of man.  As history progressed and natural laws were discovered it became possible to apply the desires and creativity of man to work within the confines of the natural world and the moon was achieved.  It was not achieved because the "laws" of nature were ignored but rather because they were regarded.

So thinking minds even when they deny the ability to "know" objective reality are in fact embracing the "traces" of natural "law" that are apparent to all so that much greatness can be achieved.  Doubtless the ignorance of natural "law" has led to much heartache and close calls throughout history.  No one blames our elders for "global warming" but much work is being accomplished in observing its impact.  Likewise who would allow the "tickling the dragon's tail" experiment to be performed today?  By these things a thinking mind can see that the ignorance of, or inability to "know" objective reality does not equate to its non-existence.

So how then can a post modern thinker who disregards natural "law" in name but regards it in practice, because of necessity, disregard spiritual "law" both in name and practice?  When Jesus walked the earth He issued a sharp reprimand in Matthew 16:3 for those who could discern the weather by looking at the sky but could not discern spiritual signs.  In the last two-thousand years has mankind discovered enough natural "law" to journey to the moon and yet discovered too little spiritual law to recognize the necessity of loving his neighbor as himself?  God's spiritual law is as real as His natural law.  I beg you to consider this.  The same Loving Creator who designed the universe ensuring that gravity held us onto our "beloved" earth and never intended it to "splat" those foolish enough to walk off of cliffs is also the same Loving Creator who designed the universe ensuring that you should not lie, steal, commit adultery, or be selfish.  He did not weave these spiritual laws into space-time for the intent of harming, although those who are foolish enough to break them will be harmed.  Please, God Loves you.  Don't hurt yourself.

Proverbs 9:1 relates that wisdom has hewn out her seven pillars.  The number seven here is not arbitrary.  There are in fact seven editions of divine law.  A thinking mind approaching the universe with true objectivity will be able to discern them as well as their meaning.  Firstly in Psalm 19:1 God reveals to mankind that He has written His law on the natural world.  Secondly in Romans 2:15 He reveals that He has written His law on the conscience.  Thirdly, Exodus 24:12 records the law which He wrote on stone with His own hand and later was re-written by the hand of Moses.  Fourthly that Romans 15:4 reveals that God's law can be found within the Holy Scriptures.  Fifthly that God's law was manifested in the daily life of Christ Jesus as stated in John 1:14.  Sixthly that His law is written on the heart according to Hebrews 8:10.  Lastly that His law is written on the lives of the followers of Christ according to II Corinthians 3:2-3.

No thinking mind would ignore law in as much as he sees it.  No good programmer would write code which does not guard against stack underflows:-}.  No good engineer would build a bridge that does not regard the tensile strength of his chosen material.  No good musician would write a song which disregards harmony.  No great artist would design a painting lacking regard for the golden section.  So no person should live an unexamined life without regard for God's Word.  I say again, "I beg you.  Don't hurt yourself."

Now in the natural world there is no room for ignorance.  The slightest miscalculation or ignorance of a natural law can kill.  Indeed as all geeks know the cause of a crashed probe on Mars was a forgotten semicolon.  Similarly, I once crashed an entire LAN through careless use of far pointers.   In the Spiritual world there exists a "safety net" for all who will receive.  His name is Jesus Christ.  Since we all have failed to completely understand spiritual law we have all failed to abide by it (Romans 3:10-11).  The consequence for breaking even one spiritual law is spiritual death (Romans 6:23a).  Yet Jesus holds the power to save us from that death (Romans 6:23b).  All that is needed to receive that salvation is to ask (Romans 10:9).  Why not do that today?  It's as simple as ABC.

Having an Open Source Christianity
          Having an Open Source Christianity

In the hacker community it is known that the free flow of information is paramount to the continued improvement of the craft of programming as well as the betterment of the community as a whole.  Software patents and non-compete agreements stifle productivity.  Only so much knowledge can be ascertained from the examination of the application layer or error reports.  So it is with our Christian walk.

Within the quagmire of complacency and laziness the enemy has hijacked a clear picture of the identity of Jesus from many Christians who have forgotten the command to work out their own salvation (Philippians 2:12)  Be careful to realize the distinction of prepositions.  To work OUT your own salvation does not mean to work FOR your own salvation (see article What is Salvation?).  There is no part of the body of Christ which is to remain idle and the vitality of the body of Christ is linked directly to having, "...the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth , according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:16).  This truth is second is necessity only to the joining of the body with Christ Himself (John 15:5).

The key to a successful Christian walk is to have your eyes on the right things.  Looking to church leadership as a final authority on God's will or as an example for how to live and walk with Christ is comparable to a programmer looking to the application layer in order to understand the inter-workings of a complicated program.  Although the application layer may give some insight to the ideal output and intentions of the program it is of little consequence in ascertaining how it works.  In Matthew 23:1-30 Jesus offered up a pretty stern rebuke to people who would set themselves up as ultimate authorities on righteousness, godliness, etc...  Instead He offers Himself as the Son of God for our example.  The scripture says, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2).  The apostle Paul admonished people for following Himself and other apostles above Christ (I Corinthians 1:11-17).  The struggle that continues today because of leaders who set themselves up above Christ or followers who exalt them there is not a new one.  Imagine what would have happened if Joseph had not taken Mary to be His wife?  It has been necessary before to obey God above leadership and the trend will likely continue as God's people are less than perfect in the flesh though made perfect by the Blood of Christ (Romans 7:23-25).

Likewise looking to the cares and troubles of this world is like trying to program by an error report.  Although it may give a great deal of insight as to what is wrong it gives very little insight into how to correct the problems.  Most sinners know that they are sinners.  How sad to be told their obvious deficiencies Sunday upon Sunday without gaining insight into how to rectify the situation.  Peter once walked on water.  Looking at the storms of life caused him to sink.  Looking at Christ caused him to stand.  (Matthew 14:22-30)  Focusing in our failures may be useful but insufficient to save.  Christ is sufficient to save (Romans 10:9).

Yet to get in on the nuts and bolts of Christianity and a proper walk requires going straight to the Source Himself.  No programmer can really program until he get his hands on some juicy source code and digs in to dine.  So it is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We know that we have this access to Him for it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (I Timothy 2:5-6)  It is written again, "For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 2:15-16).  We can be confident that we will know our Saviour's voice for it is written, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:27-28)

Do not be deceived God has a plan and purpose for your life and it extends beyond hearing and observing into the realm of fruitfulness and action.  Does the scripture say in vain, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10)  Wake up church!  Look at the blessing that sits before you as a banqueting table of spiritual wealth and love.  The Son of the Living God who is Jesus Christ the Righteous is inviting you to be remade from the inside out not by the hands and minds of men but by His Spirit which dwells in you.  Let's get real about our commitment to Christ today.  It profits little if we say that we are saved but do not allow our selves to be renewed in His Power.   Even though we may be saved as if by fire still it profits far more for all if we acknowledge the Source today and begin to be remade in Him.  There is no respect of persons with God.  What He can do through leadership He longs to do in and through you.  Will you let Him?

The Un-Opened Christmas Gift
          The Un-Opened Christmas Gift

Many are aware of the Christmas Legend of  WWI in which the entire Western Front of British and German soldiers simultaneously laid down their weapons in an unofficial cease fire to celebrate Christmas Eve together.  Some dismiss this Legend as mere rubbish but the reports are too widespread and the agreement between stories is too complete for it to be anything other than fact.  In 1914 during the height of raging hot battle along the Western Front of Europe the British and German soldiers laid down their weapons and held a soccer match on the ice.  They shared their cigarettes and tinder boxes as presents.  The event was nothing less than a miracle brought about by a miraculous God.  During this time the soldiers caught a glimpse of something far bigger than themselves.  This was the fact that Christmas is a season of Love and Giving that is unlike any other.  As Collin Raye tells the Legend, "As time was still the Spirit moved the soldiers to lay down their arms and raise their voice in song"

Yet what could bring about such peace amongst bitter enemies in the heat of battle?  Could a mere weariness of fighting bring on such drastic happenings?  This is possible but a mere weariness of fighting is more likely to have brought about a series of mass suicides than it is to have brought about peace between men stuck in such a hateful war.  It is more likely that these people were touched deeply in the heart of a season in which Love and Peace are the norm rather than exception.  Amidst the Love and Peace of this season, the Love of God is a topic of fundamental discussion.  I say fundamental because people who never think about God or church during another time, flock in mass to the services to hear the story of the nativity, observe the tradition, and sing the carols that we all have come to love and cherish since the days of childhood.

God is Love.  The bible is replete with the riches of God's Love.  The word Love is discussed more than almost any topic in the bible.  Isn't it wonderful! Let it sink in for a second, "The Creator of the Universe Loves You, Madly."  It might just as well have been as Renee Descartes feared, that God were, "an evil genius seeking to deceive."  As it turns out the God of the Universe is a God of Love, Peace, and Order.  Solomon wrote of Him, "He brought me to the banqueting house, and His banner over me was Love." (Song of Solomon 2:4) Through the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah, God has revealed to us His heart felt passion, "Yea, I have Loved you with an everlasting Love." (Jeremiah 31:3)  The Apostle Paul said of Him, "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:39)

Yet for so many this Love remains idle year after year.   It sits beneath the tree unopened and its riches neither partaken of nor enjoyed.  Only the ribbons are teased gingerly as it is placed back beneath the tree.  For many the thought is, "I'll open it next year"  Perhaps this is the reason why that "Holy Infant so Tender and Mild" was received into this world in a barn instead of a warm house.  He is that unopened gift.  "He came on to His own, and His own received Him not.  But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."  (John 3:11-13)  "For God so Loved the World, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17)  "For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."  (Ephesians 2:8-9)  This holiday season receive the gift of God.  Lay aside all of the vain attempts to achieve the riches of heaven and of God's Love through good works, giving, or any other worthless endeavor.  Instead receive simply and as a child receiving a Christmas gift, the Grace of Jesus Christ.  It's as simple as ABC.

Still it doesn't stop there.  Jesus is the Gift that keeps on Giving.  Year after year it is possible to unwrap more and more of the fullness of His Love and Grace.  This Grace was not meant only to save but also to change a man from the inside out.  "Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound.  But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.  What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid.  How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?"  (Romans 5:20-6:2)  "For this is the Love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grevious.  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (I John 5:3-4)  Well I better get back to Christmas because it looks like I have a lot of UN-wrapping to do.  I guess we all do.  Merry Christmas!  Jesus Loves You.

Homeschool Babel
          Homeschool Babel

One day a child declares, "I want to be an astronaut when I grow up mommy!"  Last week it was a ballerina.  The week before that it was a swim instructor.  I suppose next week it will be a concert pianist.  The parents smile a knowing grin at one another and tousle the child's hair in encouragement.  The parent knows the degree of hard work, discipline, determination, and divine favor involved in accomplishing any dream.  The parent has experienced achieving many dreams only to realize that they were not the heaven that had been imagined.

Indeed the desire to achieve a personal heaven through hard work, discipline, and determination has been a common miscalculation since the days predating Abraham.  An entire global community united together and in singularity of purpose attempted to achieve heaven through personal achievement (Genesis 11:1-9).  As is well known this resulted in God confounding all of the world with separate languages.

In the new testament Jesus again draws our attention toward the error of seeking to build our own towers (Luke 14:28-30).  We need to guard our homeschool dreams that they are His dreams.  When they are His dreams we know that He will build them and let us help sometimes.  When they are our dreams we know that they are destined to fail or worse still fail to deliver.  We may believe that our child should be reading at a certain level or achieve a given status but we are commanded to bring a child up in the way that they should go but not necessarily the way that we want them to go (Proverbs 22:6).  To let go and let God have his perfect way with our children is difficult but essential.  Remember that unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain who build it (Psalm 127:1).

If only God is qualified to build our homeschools and grow our children then how much more is only God qualified to prepare us for the true heaven!  He did not allow the whole world to build a tower to work their way to heaven so why would he allow a single person to do so.  When Jesus says to consider the cost of building a tower He wants you to realize that He is the cost of building a tower.  That tower is the Cross of Calvary.  The only way that anyone may enter into heaven is by the free Gift of Grace through the Power in the Blood of Christ to bring atonement from our sins (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We bring all of our good intentions to the throne of God.  Every good work that we have performed we show to him.  Our heavenly father grins knowingly.  He tousles our hair and points to the Cross.  My sweet child He says, "Don't you know to live you first must die." (Matthew 16:25)

His Grace: Adam and Eve
          His Grace: Adam and Eve

The need of humankind for Grace emerged with the first sin commited by us.  Grace is God's unconditional favor toward an undeserving recipient.  Grace is a Gift.  For example the song America the Beautiful contains the line, "God shed His Grace on thee."  This means that God blesses America although America does not deserve it.  He does this as a gift for His own purposes.  Sin is any action that is done in rebellion to God.  It is doing anything that is different from God's intention.  The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23).

The first sin of humankind was committed by the first man and woman.  This is the familiar story of Adam and Eve (Genesis 2-3).  Adam and Eve had been created in a garden named the Garden of Eden.  In this garden all provision was made for all that they could ever want or need.  They were in constant fellowship with God.  They talked with Him when ever they wanted as readily as any friend talks with another.  They were created in innocence never having committed any sin.  God gave them a single command, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." (Genesis 2:16-17)

Breaking this one command was apparently as irresistible to Adam and Eve as many sins are to the rest of us.  Eve was tempted by a serpent and ate the forbidden fruit.  The reason given by scripture was, "[she] saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat" (Genesis 3:6)  The bible does not give a reason for Adam's commission of this first sin.  Immediately after this disobedience death took place just as God had warned.  This death was a death of innocence as well as a spiritual death of a loss of ability to freely commune with God.

The death is apparent because Adam and Eve immediately began trying to make things better.  Firstly they sewed aprons of fig leaves to attempt to cover their nakedness (Genesis 3:7).  Secondly they made excuses in that Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent (Genesis 3:12-13).  Despite the attempt to "cover up" with fig leaves and excuses Adam and Eve were guilty as a cat in a gold fish bowl just like the rest of us.

God also does not accept our "cover ups" of excuse making nor good deeds (Romans 4:4).  No matter how one justifies his actions of sins such as lying, gossip, or disobeying parents God is not fooled.  No matter how many good deeds are done such as paying money to the church or helping a neighbor it will never erase what sin has been committed nor the guilt.

So God removed Adam and Eve from the garden and punished them with the familiar curses of toil for men and painful child birth for women (Genesis 3:16-19).  These punishments were nothing compared to the natural consequence of eternal separation from communion with God (Genesis 3:22-24).  Despite of all the bleak points of this most unfortunate historical event there are two glimmers of light expressing God's Grace for the situation.  Firstly that Eve was promised a child that would bruise the serpant's head (Genesis 3:15).  Secondly that Adam and Eve were clothed in animal skins (Genesis 3:21).

Both of these actions on the part of God were precursors demonstrating His Grace.  Jesus was the child of Eve who bruised the serpent's head (Luke 3:23-38).  He did so when He defeated satan by giving Himself in substitutionary punishment for every person on the cross.  The animal skins were not merely divine provisions for Adam and Eve's physical covering but also they were symbolic of divine provision for all of our spiritual covering as well.  This is because without the shedding of blood (Jesus Blood) then there is no remission for sin (Hebrews 9:22).

So the story of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden is a miniature representation of the spiritual predicament of every person.  We all have sinned if only in the smallest of ways such as lying, gossiping, or disobeying parents (Romans 3:23).  We can not hope to dismiss these sins as being insignificant after all Adam and Eve only ate a forbidden fruit  (James 2:10).  Like Adam and Eve our vain attempts to "cover up" our sins will not be sufficient for our forgiveness (Romans 4:4).  The provision that was promised to Adam and Eve as bruising the serpent's head and then symbolized through the animal skins has been manifested by Jesus Christ the Son of God when He took our punishment on the cross (Romans 5:17).  In order to receive this free Gift of Grace you only need ask  (Romans 10:9).  It's as easy as ABC.

LOGOS
          Lamb of God's Open Services

Concept

Lamb of God's Open Services (LOGOS) is meant to be a simple easy to use suite of Christian Web Master Tools for use by God's people and more specifically by the web masters of websites owned by Christian ministry organizations.  After formatting the system using an easy to use and well documented GUI type interface the web master will be able to cut and paste several lines of basic code to the existing HTML.  The web master will be able to reap all of the benefits of PHP coding and MySQL databases without having access or knowledge of either.  The nuts and bolts will be completely invisible to the web master so that  he may go on designing his website with the multitude of WYSIWYG web publishing applications available on the market today.  My prayer is that the time and money that is saved  by the work that I do here will free him up for other work in ministry.

Meaning of Name

The possessive form and the name of this software suite is not meant to claim an endorsement by the King of Kings himself.  Instead the title represents my complete surrender of the computer skills that He has given me at His feet.  As worthless as they are next to pure sinless life that He gave to us, my hope is that His Spirit might inhabit them and use them to take His Gospel to the nations.

Vision

To have an Open Source Christianity means to work out (not work for) your own salvation with fear and trembling before God.  The time is short and the days are evil.  I lay all that I have at the feet of the Cross and let God and not man decide it's value.  I confess that none of it has any value and stand in hope that when the Spirit of God inhabits my work it will be empowered to accomplish the impossible that has been given me to take the Gospel to the Nations!

Timeline

One can expect that this system will begin to be usable by the beginning of 2006.  From there it will expand and grow as the Spirit leads.

Funding

To date this project has no funding except for the provision that trickles in somehow allowing the work to continue.  Thank God that He is faithful in ways that we can not understand.  Full time sponsors would certainly ease the burden so that the project can continue without financial hinderances.  If you feel that God is laying on your heart to be such a sponsor please contact us at missionarysupport@computergeeks4christ.org.  Otherwise I rejoice against reason because the trying of my faith works patience.

Language Support

To date this project is available only to speakers of the English tongue.  If God is laying on your heart to undertake the task of translating the documentation and screen presentation into another language please contact us at missionarysupport@computergeeks4christ.org so that we can begin making plans as the Spirit leads.

Code Submission

At this point the project is being produced by my soul coding efforts and my wife's artistic contributions.  There is no system in place for a collaborative work.  However if you feel in your heart that God is leading you to make a contribution of your coding talents then please contact us at missionarysupport@computergeeks4christ.org so that we can begin to make plans as the Spirit leads.

Security

The system will be protected by an encryption algorithms as well as the physical security afforded by blue host.  The system will not be backed-up due to limitations in server space and funding however a service is available for each web master to back up his own data and regular use is encourged.

Privacy Policy

We will not willingly sell, give, or otherwise divulge private information about any of our patrons.  We will cooperate completely with law enforcement and other government agencies requiring such information in compliance with the law.  We can not and do not make any guarantees expresses or implied as to the safe keeping of your private information.  We will make every attempt possible to keep your information private as an act of goodwill and Christian Love.

Terms of Use

A complete list of terms of use is available when signing up for this service.  It also may be received by email upon request in the Integrated LOGOS Console.  The terms stated here are incomplete and for convenience only but not binding.  The terms stated during sign-up procedures are binding.  Essentially to use this system a Christian Organization must consent to monitoring.  If we consider that you are preaching a doctrine other than the True Gospel of Christ or a morality contrary to His Word your service will be terminated.  In addition all parties agree not to take legal action against one another but to follow the procedures outlined in I Corinthians 6:1-8 for Christian brethren to settle disputes.

Scripture Service

This service allows a web master to configure and add services to his website for searching the King James Version of the bible, chapter and verse lookup, and daily email delivery of scripture for the purpose of reading through the entire bible in one year.  It also contains links to the Hebrew and Greek words used for the entire scriptures.

Calendar Service

This service allows a web master to set up a calendar of events.  The calendar can be displayed in a miniature and/or full page form.  When an end user accesses an entry it will be displayed in full page view.  Additionally the end user may elect to receive calendar notifications directly by email.  The web master may configure the look and feel of any pages as he pleases.

Announcement Service

This service allows a web master the freedom to display announcements such as those in the weekly church bulletin. Can't Silence the Lamb
There is a message so profound and so powerful yet so simple and so free.  It endures all time.  Many Christian geologists and archeologists declare that it is written on the very rocks themselves thus fulfilling the prophecy of Christ as he entered Jeruselum on the first Palm Sunday.  This message has endured the persecution of Nero and the harsh treatment from the inquisition.  It has endured lies and blasphemous proclamations of it tuth mixed with heresies of men.  Still it has come to the surface as ultimate Truth.

Even today in America as the tides of persecution rise there are organizations dedicated to changing laws and corrupting our education system to turn our children away from God before they have a chance to know Him as God.  It is becoming essential for each parent to cherish every moment with their children and use every opportunity to share the message with them.  As the tides rise the threat increases.   Could the churces of America ever be forced under ground?  I don't know the answer to that question but this I know.  They can't silence the Lamb!

Can't Silence the Lamb

G               C                G
They can't silence the Lamb
G               C                 G
They can't silence His Bride
                  C                G                   C                  D
They can't silence the Message of the way that He died
C              A
And rose again
G                C             G
They could kill all His people
G                 C       G
Take their children away
      C                    G                C         D
It still wouldn't change it.  He's alive today!
                 C         G
And He Loves them
              C            G
Yes He Loves them
C                            G
Even if they cut the tongues of every man
                  C                         F        G
Who proclaimed the Truth of His Love
C                                 G
Even the rocks and stones would cry out
C                                           A
The wondrous message from above
C                      G                C
And they can't silence the Lamb
C                  G                C
They can't silence His Bride

They can't silence the message of the way that He died

Mathematics: The Language of Love
          Mathematics: The Language of Love

God is continually counting things.  He has a book by the name of Numbers.  In Numbers Moses is commanded to count all of the Children of Israel.  Psalm 147 and verse four reveals, "He tells the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names." That is something that has not been accomplished by the largest Cray.  It is doubtful that it ever will be.

Numbers have gained a bad reputation as being cold and unfeeling.  They are thought cold and impersonal.  This is not the case.  Mathematics like any language is expressive of the one who speaks it.  There are many who have seen the beauty and expressiveness of numbers and describe them with romantic terms like ballet or symphony.

When I look at the Universe I see a Loving God who counts the hairs on my head (Matthew 10:30).  I can see nothing less.  I see a God who has measured my tears in a bottle (Psalms 56:8).  Think what would happen if for one fleeting instant the nuclear bonding forces of the earth's crust were to be overcome by it's gravity.  The earth would crush into a singularity with everything on it!  All life would perish but God lovingly maintains the balance of the system of creation with His mathematics.  He calculates.  He integrates.  He derives and conjugates.  All the while the dazzling dance of quantum mechanics and physics maintains it's delicate balance on the edge of a knife blade of order and inflexible law.

Yet for all of His counting there is one thing that God would rather not compute.  That is the sins of mankind and the sins of each individual personally.  Yet it can not be helped.  It is in His face like a stench.  The Great Mathematician finds Himself rehearsing the enumerations of the vial affections of humanity through His infinite mind like a macabre leading only to fire and brimstone.

Consider for a moment the function f as a simple random function whose range is all numbers between 0 and infinity inclusive.  This function is a controlling function of function g.  Function g returns a boolean value.  The result of g is false when f(x) is 0 and true otherwise.  A true value corresponds to guilty and false corresponds to innocent.  The function f(x) is relative to the sins of a man.  What we would really like to see here is for f(x) to be 0 so that a person might be saved from eternal punishment and death.  This is however not the nature of function f (Romans 3:10).  The nature of function f for some people is a function that approaches infinity with more and more dreadful sins being commited.  The nature for others who try to live a pious life is to tend toward zero becoming more and more good as life continues.  For most people the function fluctuates and takes on more of Fourier characteristics.  As is clear all of these results for function f leads only to death (Romans 5:12).  What is really needed is to multiply the function f by a scalar value of 0 that will eliminate the sin and lead to the desired output of function g.  This is life (Romans 5:18).

Jesus sins were zero, zip, zilch, and none.  He lived a Perfect Sinless Life (Hebrews 4:14-15).  When we take the quantity of sins that Christ committed and combine them with our own count through an arithmetic AND operation we end up with no sins either (Romans 5:19).  Anything and'd with zero is zero.  In the same way anything joined with Christ is clean (II Corinthians 5:17).

If you would like to be joined with Christ in this way simply ask Him (Romans 10:13).  For as it is written, "That if thou shalt confess  with thy mouth the Lord  Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised  him from the dead,  thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9). Simply Pray...

Father-

I am as guilty as a cat in a gold fish bowl.  I am caught, busted, and unclean.  The function f of my sinfulness is not zero.  Join me with Christ in the way that a function f is joined with a scalar value of zero.  Multiply my sin by His Sinlessness and wipe me clean.  I know that you will receive me because of who Jesus is.  He is Your Son and a Perfect Man and He will make me clean.  Help me to tend more to zero instead of infinity.  Help me to tend more to zero than take on the characteristics of the Fourier functions.  Yet I know that when I fail Jesus does not fail.  He is my Life and my Salvation.

In His Name I pray.  So be it.

Sometimes I think God's Love is like PI a non-repeating non-terminating number that transcends all number systems.  His Love doesn't repeat because it is different at every experiencing.  It never ends.  And it transcends all.  PI is released when the circumference of a circle is divided by it's diameter.  God's Love is released when the cycle of sin is divided by His Son.  The cycle of sin is defeated.  It is finished and His Love will reign forever.  Just try to find the end of PI. 3.14159265359...

On Faith and Magic
          On Faith and Magic

Faith is trusting in a Sovereign Deity to provide, protect, and care for the matters of the universe and all of it's inhabitants.  Magic, on the other hand, is "controlling" the universe and all of it's inhabitants and attempting to bend them to the will of the mage or wizard.  To control things seems to be at the fore front of objectives for most people.  A geek such as myself in particular would sit in his "Arm Chair Universe" spinning webs of numbers and formulas with the delight of a computer or network that obeys my every command and answers my every request.  Rolling the destinies of man and mage on the sides of a do-decahedran.  The magic is irresistable.

Like Alfred J. Prufrock many of us are control freaks seeking "To have squeezed the universe into a ball To roll it toward some overwhelming question." (Eliot)  We share his fears of  biting a peach.  Why believe?  Why have faith?   If the depth of the pit can not be ascertained then it is far too dangerous a thing to eat.  A mother dying; a cat being hit by a car; or an abusive spouse who refuses to relent from his evil.  How good a thing it would be to make the pit disappear in order to obtain a pitless peach!  How wonderful to obtain through a calculated control of the elements of the universe an absolute Utopia where no harm can come to it's people.

Yet there is that which can not be controlled.  Like a dangerous incantation that not the greatest of mages can harness. The words have a way of getting off of the page and released into the world doing irreparable "damage".  This "spell" is dangerous indeed.  The "spell" that I am talking about is not a "spell" at all.  It is the Word of God.  "For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).  "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11).

The more that people seek to control then the worse that the world becomes.  What mage would seek to turn the seasons backward or bring about the death of their own child?  Yet what becomes of dealing with matters too great for mortals?  After all it was man's desire to control things that burned a hole into our sky.  It was man's lust for power and greed that killed fifty million Jews in the "war to end all wars".  But the wars are still on aren't they?  The battles are still being fought in endless blood and destruction over control.  I would submit to you that however good your intention, some power is not intended for mortals and some things are beyond the scope of the control of mortals.  This is like a local variable that can not be altered by any function that  is not it's parent.  It would be bad form and bad programming to try.

So why is it so tempting to try to tell God what to do?  Why is it so irresistible to try to bargain with Him and earn our redemption?  He is God.

You can not control Him and you need not try because He counts the hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30).  He keeps your tears in His bottle and He really Loves you. (Psalm 56:8)  So much that He sent His Son to die for you (Romans 5:8) in order to accomplish what your magic can not (Ephesians 5:1-21).   That is peace (Galatians 5:22-23).  That is your Salvation  (Ephesians 2:8-9) If you need Salvation don't do anything just ask Him for it (Romans 8:10, Romans 10:6-13).  It's as simple as ABC.

His Grace: Cain and Abel
          His Grace: Cain and Abel

The story of Cain and Abel is often seen as the earliest example of sibling rivalry and so it is but more important than a story of sibling rivalry in the physical sense it is also an example of sibling rivalry in the spiritual sense.  As is well known Cain's sacrifices of "vegetables" were not respected by God and Abel's sacrifice of the firstlings of his flock were respected (Genesis 4:3-5).  It is likely that God advised them previously that only blood sacrifices of animals would be received because God reprimanded Cain by saying, "If thou doest well,  shalt thou not be accepted?.." (Genesis 4:7).  As discussed in the previous article the reason that God would only receive the blood sacrifices of animals is because without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sins (Hebrews 9:22).

Cain was the first born of a mother who had just been promised that her seed would redeem her.  It is likely that Cain had been raised in false hopes that went to his head.  Whether for this reason or another Cain began to trust in his own work to please God.  He expected God's approval seemingly on the basis of who he thought himself to be.  God warned Cain that "sin was lying in wait for him" (Genesis 4:7).  This is because God knew that Cain was envious of Abel for being approved of by God.

It is easy in the present time to become envious of other brothers and sisters in Christ for the favor that God extends to them.  It is important to avoid making the mistake of Cain.  Cain was comparing himself to Abel in terms of his own criteria of good works.  Undoubtedly Cain said to himself, "My vegetables were every bit as good as Abel's sheep."  Yet God was not looking at Cain's "vegetables" or Abel's lamb because God was looking at the Lamb who was slain as the one who is Worthy (Revelation 5:12).

When God choses who will do great things in the Kingdom, I believe that He looks around for those trusting in the Blood of Jesus for their power and provision.  He looks for the attitude of  John the Baptist who knew that he must decrease so that Jesus could increase (John 3:30).  If God is a jealous God who will not share His worship with other "gods" then that would include those who exalt themselves as "gods" as well (Exodous 34:14).  For as is written only God can forgive sins (Mark 2:7).

Before we can do great things or anythings in the Kingdom of God we must receive the Grace and Favor that comes from the work of Jesus because without the shedding of Blood (God's Blood) there is no remission for sins.  Jesus paid that price when He shed His Blood for all of us on the Cross of Calvary.  In order to receive that Grace all we need to do is ask for it.  It is as simple as ABC.

Now even in the midst of Cain's sin he received a certain amount of Grace.  Although Cain refused to confess his sin of killing his brother and therefore lost fellowship with God and was forced to wander in the wilderness he did confess his need for Grace.  Because Cain acknowledged to God a need for Grace he received it.  He was "marked" for divine protection (Genesis 4:13-15).

Likewise many Christians wander about in their spiritual wilderness because of their unwillingness to confess their sins.  They acknowledge the need for Grace and Christ's provision of it and so are marked by the Holy Spirit of Promise (Ephesians 1:13).  Without confessing their sins to renew fellowship they grieve Him (Ephesians 4:30).  How tragic to live life as a spiritual vagabond apart from God's fellowship and grieving His Spirit when His tender mercies are only a word away!  As is written, "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:19)  Unfortunately for those who chose to continue to wander in a spiritual wilderness their salvation will come as if by fire (I Corinthians 3:11-15).  Although marked by the Spirit and unable to be destroyed by Satan and his demons, they are alone.  How sad to be alone!  Come back to your God my brother, my sister.

Why shouldn't I just Give Up?
Why shouldn't I just Give Up?

***Pray***

Hebrews 12:1-2

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses (Seeing we are surrounded by so many witnesses) STOP

What witnesses?

Daniel

     Man said you can't pray

Daniel said God told me to pray and ain't no man gonna tell me different so he prayed

So man threw him into a lions den for his trouble

God had another plan...  That's right you know.

 Moses

Man said I'm gonna make you rich beyond your wildest dreams.  I'm gonna give you a kingdom.  You're gonna be second in charge of all the kingdom.

Moses said God showed me my brethren beaten, in slavery, in bondage.  I can't stand by.  I can't look on.  Somebody gotta do something.  I can't wait for someone else.  They might not see.  They might not get it.  They might not care.  Moses said, "I see Adonai.  I get it. I don't want this junk.  I want you."

So man thought we'll drive him out of Egypt.

God had another plan... That's right you know.

So Moses is watching you.  Abraham is watching you.  Daniel is watching you.  They want to see what you're gonna do?  They want to see if you have the courage.  They want to see if you have the determination.  They want to see if you have the faith.

let us lay aside every weight  STOP

Well what is weight?

Some of you can tell me what weight is can't you?

Weight is taking care of a family on a shoe string budget isn't it?

Weight is watching a brother in the Lord die of cancer isn't it?

Basically weight is anything that is too much to carry alone.  It is anything in life that is too dificult to manage.  Too hard to endure.  Too tough to tackle.  ...Alone

But what does Jesus say? He says give me your burden because my burden is easy.

Sometimes we don't know how to pay the light bill and if you ask me I probably don't know either but there's someone who knows isn't there.  There's someone who does have the answer.

and the sin which doth so easily beset us STOP

Now we know what sin is don't we.  Sin is lying.  Sin is gossiping.  Sin is killing a brother or sister with angry words.  Sin is anything that we're prone to do that ain't loving God and it ain't loving people neither.  Lay it aside.  Take up the Cross because this stuff will take us off track. won't it?

and let us run with PATIENCE  (Oh, no there's that P word again)  the race that is set before us,  STOP

Why is it we have so much trouble with the P word anyway?

We're looking at things with the wrong eyes.  I'll tell you something crazy... Bare with me ok because you may not believe it but these two things right here in the front of your face lie to you.  They lie all the time.  They don't mean it but they're imperfect and they can't see the way Jesus can.  How many have ever seen a magic trick or looked at an optical illusion?  The hand is quicker than the what?  Eye right.  In the dark we're terrified even adults when you walk down a dark street alone at night so dark that you have to feel in front of you.  We have to learn how to deal with that dark don't we.  That's when we learn about the P word.

'Cause what if we don't know the answer?  He does.  We have the wrong mindset.  When we don't know we start naming everything that could go wrong.  Wrong mindset.  If we ask for bread will our heavenly father give us a stone?  Then why do we think the worst.  We ought to think like a child at Christmas time.  See children are good examples for all kinds of things.  You need to look at them because they understand somethings that we don't.  Instead of trying to think of everything that's gonna go wrong why not try to think of how things could go right.  Instead of seeing the red sea on one side and the approaching army on the other what if you saw the red sea parting?  Let me tell you the funnest part of this too.  You'll never get it right.  God will always come up with a more creative solution than you were able to imagine and it will always be bigger than one person.

And what if someone yells at you or cuts you off in traffic or lies to you or slanders you in church.  What then?  Brothers, sisters we need to have the right eyes.  We need to see the person and not the sin.  Let me shock you a little bit here.  Jesus didn't die for your sins.  What?  Are you crazy?  That's blaspheme.  Of course He died for my sins.  Salvation by Grace through Faith..  blah blah blah.  We live in America we've heard it.  He didn't die for your sins, I'll tell you He died for you.  Jesus Loves You.  He died for you to save you from your sins.  It's a small distinction but it's the difference between loving the sinner and hating the sin.  So when Jesus says lay yourself aside as a living sacrafice He's not asking you to lay your self aside for a sin He's asking you to lay yourself aside for a person, a human being, with feelings, and gifts, and talents, and love.

What if God says no?  Ouch.  God wouldn't do that would He.  I mean the scripture is clear.  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  (John 14:13) ah... Back up the bus as my wife says...  "In my name", He says.  Can anyone imagine a cop asking the judge for a joint in the name of the law?  Could anyone imagine the judge complying to this request?  It's just as rediculous to ask selfish things of the Father in the name of the Son.  The book of James tells us, "We have not because we ask not or we ask amiss that we may consume it upon our lusts"  So it's about the eyes.  We need to have the right eyes.

Looking unto Jesus  STOP

There it is.  This is the eyes I'm talking about.  Proverbs reminds us that for lack of vision men perish.   Proverbs tells us, teenagers, that the eye that mocks at the mother and the father the young eagles will pluck it out.  No a eagle won't swoop down and start feasting on your eyeball but let me tell you something, young people, you only have 18 years to learn all that your parents have to teach you and then it's too late and you will be left with no vision if you don't get it now.  Jesus is the vision.  Look to Him.  See Him.  Believe in Him.  How do you get vision.

Well ya gotta get the Word.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.  So you get into the word and you start hearing it and sooner or later you start believing it.  Then once you start believing it then you start seeing it.  Right, because Faith is calling those things which be not as though they were.  Then once you start seeing it then it comes into fruition and before you know it you're walking the walk and you're talking the talk and you're acting just like Jesus.  Because Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.  I said, "GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU."  The Holy Spirit is in You.  Does that silly devil got the Spirit in him? No I don't think so.  He just dumb old serpent walking around with his head bashed in.  Jesus beat it in with a big old stick that we call the Cross of Calvry.  He can't stop you.  Sin can't stop you.  Nothing can stop you.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

Sometimes I look into the eastern sky.  Why?  Because I'm building vision.  I look into the sky and I say to myself Jesus is coming back in that sky.  It might be right now.  He might step out of that cloud before I finish this thought.  Then a trumpet will sound and we'll fly up to meet Him in the air.  Doo-doo-doo-doo.  I'm serious.  Believe it.  This isn't some joke.  This is reality.  This stuff is more real than your eyes.  This stuff is more real than the stuff you learn in science class.  This stuff is more real than what you hear on the news.  This stuff is more real than 911.  This stuff is more real than your heartache or your cancer or your pain.  This stuff is real! Real! Real!

the author and finisher of our faith;  STOP

Why?  Because He already won the victory.  He already fought the battle.  He already paid the price.  He already won!  He won! He won!  The victor is sure and the victry's secure.  This is real people.  Praise the Lord.  Clap your hands.  Raise your Voice.  Jesus Won!  Do you know what that means?  That means sin has no more dominion over you!   That means you don't have to yell at your spouse anymore.  That means you don't have to be afraid anymore.  That means you don't have to lie steal or cheat to get ahead anymore.  That means you don't have to take another drink.  That means you don't have to take another toke.  That means you don't have to drink another coke!   Jesus Won! He Won!  He Won!

who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, STOP

This is the Joy.  The Joy that is in us now.  The Joy of knowing that there is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus who live not according to the flesh unto death but according to the Spirit unto life.  But He had to endure that Cross didn't He?  So we have to be burried with Him too in order to raise again.  No I'm not talking about physical death here.  I'm talking about spirtual surrender.  There is certain amount of suffering involved in resisting sin.  Nothing compared to the pain of giving in to sin though.  We know that don't we?  It hurts sometimes to bite our lip and not say something harsh to someone that we love but it's a lot less painful than straining the relationship isn't it?  So we endure the cross with Him.  We suffer with Him so that we might be glorified with Him.  I'm not saying you have to go around conquering all of your sins and making the Grace of God of no effect.  Listen to what I'm saying.  I'm saying we have Grace either way but if we endure the cross then we get the prize.  What prize?  All I can say is.  Believe me you want the prize.

despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Yet we know Jesus is not on that Cross is He?  He's risen.  He's alive.  He's seated right next to God the Father at His right Hand.  What does He do?  He rules.  Yes but more important to us is that He makes intercession for us.  See it's like this.  If we make a mess of things then He talks to God the Father on our behalf.   Then we are forgiven. Our sins are forgotten just as if they never happened.

The question is have you received the Grace of God?  In order to obtain any of the riches of the message today you need to receive His Grace.  To do so all you need to do is ask.  It's as simple as ABC.

His Grace: Introduction
           His Grace: Introduction

The words, "Jesus Loves me this I know...", seem like a foolish children's song.  Surely there is more to our walk with Christ than this.  Undoubtedly this is but milk and there are more mature spiritual truths to be learned but this Truth is foundational to everything.  He is knit through out the scriptures in a way that holds all things together (John 5:39).  It is essential to look at the little children at times and refresh your understanding of the utter depth of the Truth of His Love because Satan tries to tug at this and unravel every area of your Christian walk and life and leave you powerless and not knowing why.

God is quite adamant about it.  The only way to Him is to ask for His Grace.  You can't work for it.  You can't buy it.  You can't beg for it.  You can't earn it.  You can't! You can't! You can't and did I mention that you can't.  Yet where you can't Christ can (Matthew 19:25-26).  It is His free gift to save you from hell and eternal punishment for the sins that you have committed (Ephesians 2:8-9).  To receive this gift all you have to do is ask (Romans 10:9-10).  It's as simple as ABC.

This study is of the revelation of God through all scripture of two foundational Truths.  Firstly that if you reject God's Grace you will die.  Secondly that it you accept God's Grace you will Live.  In other words as the children have taught us in all simplicity and love, "Jesus Loves me this I know..."

Why should I live?
          Why should I live?

You think you're dying of cancer and it's like you are being eaten up from the inside out.  You think that you are empty inside and that there is no hope left for you.  You think that the world is better off with out you.  You think that God can not forgive you any longer and that you have used up all the Grace.

But you are wrong.  You are wrong because sinning too much and trying to use up all of God's Grace is like trying to dump buckets of fresh water into the ocean to dilute it.  You  could dump fresh water into the ocean in buckets for the rest of your life and you would not change the salinity by the slightest percentage.  You can't stop God's love.  If you want to get the best picture that you could possibly dream of understanding of the Grace of God then look into the sky and God's Grace extends beyond the furtherest star that you can't even see.

His mercy endures to all generations and if God had one hundred sheep and lost one then He would leave the other ninety-nine behind to find it.  When He changed the water into wine then the ruler of the feast said, "Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now." (John 2:10)

You see when you think God's done with you then He's just getting started.  When you think that you've gone too far then you have only begun to skim the surface of His Grace.  When you think you've done too much then He's only beginning to forgive you.  Who are you that you believe you can outdo God.  God can out Love any sin.  The devil can't hold a candle to Him.  You can't make Him stop loving.  You can't make Him stop hoping.  You can't make Him stop forgiving.  You're not big enough to get beyond His Love.  You're not fast enough to get beyond His Grace.  You're not smart enough to get beyond His mercy.

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 8:32-39)

The Ultimate Answer to Life the Universe and Everything
The Ultimate Answer to Life the Universe and Everything

Nope it's not fourty-two.  What if it were just as ridiculous though?  What if it were just as unable to be proved?  What if you brought together all of the most brilliant minds of the world and they created a planet with the genesis device and then proceeded to set that planet up as a great bio-computer?
And what if that computer promised in thirty-million years to deliver the ultimate answer to life the universe and everything but while it was busy contemplating Lord, Lunatic, Liar and dividing pi out to the millionth digit looking for patterns Jesus Christ came back in all of His Glory and every tongue confessed that He was Lord.  All the people that ever lived were judged and those who knew Him stayed with Him and all those who didn't know Him were sent away to hell to burn for eternal torment and death.

The message here is simple.  Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He is sent to redeem you from your sin.  It can't be proved.  It can't be figured out mathematically.  It's just True.  The proof is in the pudding.  When I follow Jesus I have love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).  When I don't follow Him I'm just a self centered jerk.  That's it.  Get off yourself.  You may be your own undoing.

What if you sat all day translating something from ancient biblical Greek with contracted-verbs middle voices and everything else and all it said was Jesus Loves You.  I'm reminded of the code breakers during WWII.  They would decode a message only to learn that it's contents in German read something along the lines of, "You poor tortured soul destined to labor in vain for messages that aren't there."  Why search after vain truths and doctrines of men?  Get real with your faith.  Come to Jesus and come quickly.  You know He's True.  You've known all of your life but you won't get off of yourself long enough to admit it.

The True Gospel is simple enough for a child to understand and powerful enough to bring a full grown Klingon to His knees.  I know because it does me.  Now if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)  You are doing this because of your sin.  You know already that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23).  When you confess to Him that you need Him you are admitting that you are a sinner on your way to hell and that you want Jesus (the Son of God) to save you.  That's it end of story no complicated organic computer to figure it out.  It's as simple as ABC.

The Just shall LIVE by Faith
The Just shall LIVE by Faith

Praise God!  The just shall Live by Faith (Romans 1:17).  The power of life and death is held in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).  For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead then you shall be saved (Romans 10:6-10).  This was the battle cry of the reformation and now it the Gospel of Peace to be shouted from the mountaintops.  To put it another way if you ask Jesus He will save you.  By asking Him you are demonstrating that you need to be saved from something (sin and its eternal punishment) and that you believe that He is the man (God's Son) to do it.  This is as simple as ABC.

Yet the life of faith only begins here.  The blessing of eternal life by Grace through Faith is only the tip of an iceberg of wealth and riches of the Holiest variety.   Although it is a big blessing, like most icebergs the other 2/3 of the blessing lies beneath the surface waiting to be uncovered.  This is to be uncovered by a daily walk of faith (II Corinthians 5:7).

This means simply that every part of every area of everything in every way in life should be done through faith in Jesus Christ.  What sin is there that is not the result of some form of doubting Him?  The Pride of Life is faith in "self" more than Jesus so that is caused by a lack of faith in Him.  The Lust of the Flesh is caused by faith in feelings more than Jesus so that is a lack of faith in Him.  The Lust of the Eyes is caused by a faith in appearance more than Jesus so that is caused by a lack of faith in Him.

To have faith in Jesus is a key that unlocks abundant life.  To begin to receive the transforming power of the Spirit you must Live by Faith.  When confronted with the sin of screaming and cussing at a person in anger the solution is to have faith in Jesus.  The only reason to scream and cuss is fear of injustice or harm being done.  When there is faith in Jesus there is no fear and no need to scream or cuss.  Perfect Love cast out fear (I John 4:18).  When confronted with the sin of an affair the solution is to have faith in Jesus.  The only reason to carry out an affair is if Jesus is wrong when He says to be faithful to a spouse.  When there is faith in Jesus there is no need to please the flesh because it is known that Jesus way is better.  Why go to trouble to please that which will die?  The flesh will die someday.  It is better to nurture your spirit which will live forever in Him.  So it is with all sin.  Where faith is no sin can entise.

Still some might say, "I do not have enough faith.  Increase my faith."  Jesus was asked this by his apostles when He walked on the earth and He answered them with encouragement of how little faith it takes to accomplish great things. (Luke 17:5-6)  Still to increase your faith is no great challenge.  It is easily accomplished because "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)  Immerse yourself completely in His word and increase your faith because "Without faith it is impossible to please God because in order to please Him you first must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.  For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.  But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?  And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?  So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. His Birth
          His Birth

Introduction

During the changing of the era, it was the reign of Octavian Caesar.  The world was in chaos.  Roman nobles plotted and plied for power and position.  Most of the known world had been conquered by Rome except for those areas east of the Rhine.  Even Egypt had fallen to Rome with the suicide of Cleopatra.  All the people of the world sought desperately to throw off the tyranny of Rome.  The world was sick of blood and bloodshed.  So desperate were they for peace that they embraced the cold hearted Caesar as a human deity, crowning him Augustus.  Augustus united Rome in a relative peace and imposed a tax on all the world to pay for the management of his vast military might.

Before then throughout ages past the Spirit of God had striven with men preparing the way of the Lord and yet all of His efforts were utterly ignored by the hearts of humankind.  The peoples of the earth were dull of hearing .  Their mouth spoke froward things and their fingers taught death and destruction .  There was none righteous no not one all had sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Psalm 14:3) and so God just stopped speaking (Amos 8:11-12).  For four hundred years His silence spoke louder than words of dissapointment.  Yet in His disappointment He never faltered nor failed but birthed beauty from ambition and deliverance from despair.  Beginning in 334 BC the ambitious Alexander the Great campaigned for 11 years to conquer 22,000 miles giving the world the gift of the common Greek tongue.  With the tongue came the philosophies, including the philosophy of Stoicism, causing people to ask, "if God could in some way be in them?"    By the time of 200 BC the whole of the Mediterranean were united in Hellenistic culture.  Now a bitter war with Carthage had left Rome weakened and thirsting for some of the Hellenistic wealth.  This led to a series of wars leaving Rome in either direct or indirect control of most of the known world by 133 BC.  Everywhere the Roman army went they built roads.  So all the world was connected by Hellenistic language, Hellenistic philosophies, and Roman roads.  All the world was asking, "Could God live in us?"  All things were made ready until one night around 4 BC at a date lost in antiquity but often celebrated on the 25th of December, God spoke.  Humankind had seen perhaps for the first time His humility in the low cry of a newborn baby boy.  For the Word became flesh and dwelt among men.  Messiah had come.

Conception

The earthly life of Jesus began like all life (at conception) but He was not the seed of man but of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:18-20).  From the time of conception He had already fulfilled the first Messianic Prophecy that He would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14).  Likewise He fulfilled the prophecy of being born of a woman (Genesis 3:15).  In fact by birth alone He fulfilled at least nine Messianic Prophecies listed to the side.

The mother of Jesus was Mary who discovered her pregnancy by divine announcement.    The angel Gabriel came to her and told her that she would have a baby boy by the Spirit of God and that His Name should be Jesus (Luke 1:27-35).  Mary was the espoused wife of Joseph who would be an "adoptive" father to Jesus.  Mary was of the house of David and tribe of Judah and seed of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham (Luke 3:23-38).  Joseph was of this same heritage (Matthew 1:1-17).  This fulfilled five Messianic Prophecies listed to the side.

Genesis 3:15  Would be the "seed of a woman"
Galatians 4:4
Genesis 18:18
Promised Seed of Abraham
Acts 3:25
Genesis 17:19
Promised Seed of Isaac
Matthew 1:2
Numbers 24:17
Promised Seed of Jacob
Luke 3:34
Genesis 49:10
Will Descend from the Tribe of Judah
Luke 3:33
Isaiah 9:7
The Heir of the Throne of David
Matthew 1:1
Micah 5:2
Place of Birth
Matthew 2:1
Daniel 9:25
Time of Birth
Luke 2:1-2
Isaiah 7:14  Born of a Virgin
Matthew 1:18

The Birth

As stated previous Caesar imposed a tax on all of the world in order to pay for his vast military might.  This tax caused Mary and Joseph to travel the seventy-six miles from their home town of Nazareth to their place of birth in Bethlehem while Mary was late in her pregnancy (Luke 2:1-5).

Image of Bethlehem courtesy of bibleplaces.com

Bethlehem was located in the "hill country" of the Province of Judah.  It was the birth place of David and where he lived when he was anointed to be king (I Samuel 16:4-13).  The current population of Bethlehem is twenty-eight thousand and eleven thousand of these are Christians.  Bethlehem is currently under the control of the Palestinian Authrority.

Although during the time of Jesus birth the population of Bethlehem was small the town probably had close to the modern population or more present for the census.  There were so many people in the town in fact that there were no vacancies in the inns and Mary and Joseph were offered shelter in a stable and a manger for a bassinet (Luke 2:7).  This fulfilled the prophecy that Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).  Likewise that his birth was during 4 BC was fulfillment of Messianic Prophecy (Daniel 9:25).  So here lie the newborn Messiah who was the Son of God in a manger for animals born to be "adopted" by a father who was a simple carpenter.  It is no wonder it would later be said of Him, "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:..."(Phillipians 2:6-7).

The Shepherds

In 4 BC as is the case now many shepherds tended their sheep on the hills outside the town of Bethlehem.  On that night when Christ was born an angel appeared to those shepherds and proclaimed, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." (Luke 2:10-12).  Then a multitude of angels appeared and sang God's praise (Luke 2:13-14).  So the shepherds went into Bethlehem and found Jesus with Joseph and Mary and told the tale to all they saw (Luke 2:15-18).

The Circumcision & Presentation

When Jesus turned 8 days old He was circumcised to fulfill the law of Moses (Luke 2:21, Leviticus 12:2-3).  Likewise Mary waited the 33 plus days for purification (Luke 2:22, Leviticus 12:4).  After the appropriate time had passed then Mary and Joseph brought Jesus six miles north into Jerusalem to be presented to the Lord according to the law of Moses (Luke 2:22-23).  While there a sacrifice was also offered for Mary's purification (Matthew 2:24).  At this time a man named Simeon took Jesus into his arms and blessed God because he knew that Jesus was Messiah (Luke 2:28).   It had been revealed to Simeon by the Holy Ghost that he would not die before he saw the Messiah (Luke 2:26).  Simeon gave prophecy to Mary, "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." (Luke 2:34-35).  Likewise a prophetess named Anna gave thanks to God for Jesus the Messiah and told everyone that sought "redemption in Jerusalem" (Luke 2:38)

The Wise Men

In the meantime wise men had been making their way to King Herod from the east because they observed the appearance of a new star which they knew fulfilled a prophecy of a king born of the Jews (Matthew 2:1-3).  This fulfilled a Messianic Prophecy that Messiah would be born when a new star appeared or/and that Christ Himself would be a star lighting the way for the gentiles (Numbers 24:17, Isaiah 60:3).  These Wise Men asked the king where the new king would be born (Matthew 2:1-3).  King Herod was not wise in spiritual things so he demanded of all of the chief priests and scribes where the Messiah would be born (Matthew 2:4).  They told him as the prophecy was  that he would be born in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:5).  King Herod privately passed the word on to the Wise Men and entreated them to show him where Jesus was so that he too might worship Him (Matthew 2:7-8)  So the Wise men went to Bethlehem to find Him(Matthew 2:9).

It is not known why but Mary and Joseph returned to Bethlehem before proceeding home to Nazareth.  This is likely because it was seventy miles from Jerusalem to Nazareth but only six miles back to Bethlehem.  It would not be prudent to make a seventy mile journey with an infant of a month old and a women recently delivered of her first child.  Since Mary was a woman highly favored by God (Luke 1:30) it is unlikely that she or Joseph would have done anything without God's leading therefore it is possible that God led them back to Bethlehem to fulfill prophecy.  Sometime before Jesus second birthday the Wise Men arrived in Bethlehem to worship Jesus (Matthew 2:11).  They left gifts for him of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh (Matthew 2:11).  Gold was likely symbolic of Christ's royalty,  frankincense of His Priesthood , and myrrh of his coming death.

Conclusion

Prophecy had been fulfilled.  Messiah had arrived not conquering and to conquer but in peace and humility in the form of an infant child that He might be tempted on all counts common to men but without sin (Hebrews 4:14-15).  That He may walk among His people.  "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

The Straw that Broke the Camel's Back
The Straw that Broke the Camel's Back

To know Jesus is to know everlasting Grace. It is to know eternal forgiveness. It is to know endless mercy. We know that, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9) There is no limit to the things that can be "gotten away with". This Grace could be a license to do whatever you want. Yet Romans 6:1-2 warns against this presumptuous lawlessness.

Firstly the end of sin is death (Romans 6:16). "Ah, this is not a big deal. I have good old trusty I John 1:9 to fall back on", says the sinner. Who can argue with that? The Grace of God is endless. There is not a sin that I can think of that God can not forgive. Where then is this death? What is this straw that breaks the camel's back?

Look around you at the wisdom which cries without as you are exhorted to do in Proverbs 1:20-23. She teaches by example of those who came before you. The fool teaches the end of folly and the wise the end of wisdom. Who has not seen the person driven to the mental hospital by the sins they can not believe that God will forgive them of? Who has not seen the person who sits home depressed unable to go to church or believe that God can use them in ministry? Who has not seen the person who has turned their back on God in anger because of their own lack of faith? The straw has broken the camels back. They have reached a point where their own lack of faith holds them back from fellowship with God. You see God's Grace is just as vast and His mercy is just as strong. His Love is just as deep but it is out of reach for them through their own inability to forgive themselves and believe that God would receive them.

Do not allow this to be you. Keep your tabs short before God continuously talking to God in prayer and living in relationship and fellowship with Him (Romans 12:12). Keep yourself from presumptuous sins (Psalm 19:13). Do not believe the age old lie of the Devil that there can be a little sin because sin begets sin in a snowball effect (Romans 1:21-32). Remember that the Lord is merciful not willing that any should perish but all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9). Whether or not someone who lives a life dedicated to sin will be received into heaven or cast into the pit is beside the point. Who wants to live a life of hell on earth when you can live an abundant life? If you are one who is reading this and you believe you have gone too far turn back to God now because Jesus Loves You (Luke 15:20, Luke 15:11-32).

From Chaos to Beauty : Fractal Geometry and Freewill
From Chaos to Beauty : Fractal Geometry and Freewill

Younger Geeks may not remember the work of Benoit B. Mandelbrot or the computer craze in the geek community of the 1980's when every one was generating fractals on their old 8 bits.  It was in 1975 that Mandelbrot introduced his Fractal Geometry and began to show us how beauty could come out of chaos.  The work of Mandelbrot led a research team at the Georgia Institute of Technology to develop techniques of generating images reminiscent of objects in the natural world by random selection of Affine Transformations. These transformations cause a collection of points to be changed into a new shape.  They are of the form:

This transformation can also be written in the form of an iterated function system (IFS) as follows:

This system results in two equations for the transformation of x and y coordinates.  They are as follows:

The transformation i is to be selected randomly.  For sake of demonstration a javascript application is available here.  To use this demonstration simply click your mouse randomly about the window to simulate randomness.  As you do so you will soon see the emergence of a fractal fern.Included here is the javascript code for observation
.

What is fascinating about fractals is that they demonstrate how truly random behavior can bring about a predetermined outcome through the application of random variables to inflexable law.  This is important in the Christian faith because of the age old problem of freewill.  The problem is simply the apparant paradox of the coexistance of freewill and an Omnipotent Omnipresent Omniscient God.  The apparent paradox results from the thought that if God knows what a person is about to decide then He has somehow determined that choice.  Likewise it is difficult to reconcile that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Phillipians 2:10-11) with freewill.  As it is difficult to reconcile the apparent contradiction between Phillipians 2:13 and freewill.  Yet if there is no freewill then how will God judge every person according to their deeds (Romans 2:5-11).

Fractals are one possible explanation of how these apparent paradoxes could be resolved.  The choice of a person is like the choice of where to click on the screen.  It has very little effect on the ultimate outcome other than that stubborn choices may result in slower results.  Ultimately the self simularity and ordered design of a  fractal fern will emmerge from the chaotic clicking.  Likewise noone is able to break the law of God but only to break themselves against his law (Romans 6:1).

When I observe all of the chaos around me, I am sometimes afraid.  I am sometimes distraught and unhappy.  Sometimes I am angry at God.  When these times come I remember the fractal and my mind is set at ease.   To me the fractal is a symbol of the unfailing goodness of God that will triumph on that faithful day when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

If you would like to learn more about the transformation that can come through the Salvation of Jesus Christ then read the article What in the World is Salvation?

Why Follow God when Life is so Bad?
Why Follow God when Life is so Bad?

I have taken a bitter pill. My life is a book and rage is the storm of tumultuous waves that beat relentlessly upon the pages of my despair. I am altogether down cast and down trodden at the sudden realization of evil. Evil encompasses me like a drowning flood. It is a smothering darkness of an open sepulcher in which I lie.

From whence comes this evil and who is it's maker? Surely God being Benevolent would not create such an entity purposefully and surely God being Omnipotent would not be troubled by the imperfection of accidents. Where then did it come from?

I am not adequate to answer such questions that has beguiled great thinkers for millennium but instead I tell you in true humility that all my years of life have produced only one shred of wisdom. This is the realization that I know nothing.

So it would be easy to assume that God is either malevolent or impotent to prevent evil, yet it is arrogant pride to assume that because we do not understand something that it can not be. I do not understand life but I none the less believe it to be real. Many people do not understand the Internet but continue to use it daily. There are self-referential statements which are obviously true but can not be proved such as the statement, “You cannot prove this statement is true”. This is the essence of Gödel’s theorem established in 1931 that proved there are many elements of mathematics and logic that simply can not be proven.. There are numbers that can not be expressed in physical form such as the imaginary number (the square root of negative one).

Faith therefore becomes a necessary part of life. Many people have the misconception shared by the governor of Minnesota and late WWF wrestler Jesse Ventura who stated that "Religion is for the weak minded". This is the misconception that faith and intellect are some how at odds with one another and that they are mutually exclusive. This mistake is easily made because the truth is subtle and easily overlooked. However intellect rejoices in faith for it is a springboard for intellectual pursuit and faith cries out for the guiding light of knowledge for without it, it is impotent. Therefore faith and intellect are not mutually exclusive but interdependent and inseparable.

If mankind’s mathematics is self-referential and our logic is self-referential there are a great many things which are taken purely by faith. In fact one might conclude that without faith you can't think and that men can know nothing for sure.

With so many un-provable realities how are we to know anything for sure? Are we condemned to wander aimlessly through the stretches of the universe as a bug alternately approaching and fleeing the "hots" and "colds" of various stimuli. No, because we have this advantage we can make inductive judgments based on experience. One learns quickly that there are no fairies on the lawn because experience teaches such faith to be moot.

So then by experience we choose our "gods" and place our faith there for good or bad. Our humanity and finite reason demands that we do or else in arrogance and pride we presume that anything beyond our understanding does not exist. For by what faculty do we expect to describe the infiniteness of God with the mind of the finite. Is logic a good way to attempt to describe Him?

One person might describe a mountain by writing a song. Another might take the same mountain and write a poem about. Another might draw a map of it and still another might give its dimensions by a mathematical model. Though none of these is wrong not one of them gives a complete understanding of the mountain on it's own.

As Heinlein has observed mathematics would be hard pressed to adequately describe a symphony and English does not adequately describe physics. How are we then to expect logic and human reasoning to describe the mind of God? The best language I have seen to describe God is love which works by faith.

One might ask if we can not know such things as why evil exist in a universe made by an Omnipotent and Benevolent God should we even ask them. Yes we must ask and never stop asking the great "Why?". For though my intellect slay me I will never stop trying to think my Father's thoughts after Him for in thinking I give Him a form of Worship who gave me thought.

Yet the question of questions is not why is there evil if there is a God but in fact why is there any good if there is not a God? Ask not why do so many die but rather why is any one born at all and how is it that some still live. Ask not why are some sick but why do some get better? Ask not why are there so many selfish but why did One give His life selflessly? Is it so important why there are Hitlers or is it more intriguing to ponder why are there any Mother Theresas?

For if we seek the beginning of evil we will surely find it and with it all of the vile cursing that it possesses but if we seek the cause of goodness we will surely find it and with it all of the blessings that it contains. If there is a force or personage responsible for the horrible travesties of justice bestowed upon this life then let me never meet its gruesome reality; but if there be a gentle giant who fashioned my baby girl and breathed life into the nostrils of her soul then let me ever dwell in his presence.

The most noble of pursuits is this. If there is this life, this goodness, and this love. How might I obtain it? How might it be imparted unto me?

There are two rivers one flows of sweet and another of bitter waters. I know that the source of one must be sweet and the other bitter. I would not follow bitter waters and expect to find sweetness and so I do not follow evil and expect to find good.

A Geek at the Cross.
          A Geek at the Cross

Geeks are a proud people. Our intelligence quotas represent the upper 15% of the population. We are legendary in our ability to recognize patterns and sequences and to arrange and process them according to algorithms. The psychologist tell us that these abilities extend not only to computers but also into the arenas of music, cryptography, mathematics, chess, puzzles, and anything else that involves recognizing and manipulating patterns and sequences. We are a people of obsessions. The number of these obsessions include trains, dinosaurs, Star Trek, and of course our favorite technology (Yes I still fire up my old 8bit CoCo III Long live the Motorola 6809 Series Chip). The doctors expect that most geeks are actually victims of Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger's Syndrome is a mild form of autism that may be responsible for all of the obsessions that Geeks experience.

Geeks are a caring people but a misunderstood people. They do not function well in crowds and their highly introverted personalities make confrontation difficult. The Geek prefers the one on one intimacy of close relationships and friendships but his difficulty in expressing emotion and highly concrete way of perceiving reality as a set of absolutes causes him to be misunderstood as being cold and judgmental. This is not the case in reality geeks care very deeply for people but cannot express it in terms that are easily understood by non-geeks. The language of Geeks is very specific and precise. Geeks understand the difference between the statements, “Do you want to take out the trash?” and “Will you take out the trash?”. Geeks will readily answer them differently, not because they are being “smart” but because they are being earnest and precise.

Geeks have a deep rooted morality and sense of loyalty that is a subset of the mainstream. Geeks value knowledge and ideas. Geeks do not view intellectual property rights in the same way as the mainstream. To a Geek they are seen more as a way of protecting the free flow of information from the evil corporate empires. Music, thoughts, ideas, writings, and stories are all free for the public good and edification. They cannot be owned by anyone because they don’t originate with anyone instead they are traded and improved and traded again. Ultimately they approach perfection. The process of writing and re-writing and coding and re-coding is more important than the finished result. Like an artist a Geek's work is never complete. No one can own an idea. If everyone shared the ethics of the Geeks then everyone could know everyone else’s bank account number and every door could be unlocked and nothing would ever be taken.

Geeks are not strangers to persecution. As children we have been bullied and beaten. In the media our name is smeared and distorted. The innocent terms of hacker and geek are equated to the criminal titles of cracker or electronic-pirate but anyone who understands our ethics knows that they are not the same. In retaliation we lord our intellect over all that we come into contact. At the end of the day we are still persecuted and misunderstood and still longing to fit in.

Yet there is a wonderful place where Geeks do fit in. There is a place where everyone is equal. Don't be put off by the Cross. You have seen the patterns in nature and interwoven into the fabric of space time. You have stood in awe of them and worshipped them at times. You have modeled them and programmed them and counted them. You have recognized that ideas are inspired and inbreathed. You have seen that no one owns thoughts but they are larger than we are. That they are from some great beyond. Is it too great of a leap to accept that the abstract god of Einstein is a personal deity? Is it too great of a leap to accept that He is Jesus Christ?

Grace for Klingons?
          Grace for Klingons?

Can a Klingon understand Grace? Can he understand love as something other than erotica or filial honor? Can he understand forgiveness or mercy? There are not really words for these in the Klingon tongue. The only way to express Love in Klingon is as not hate. The only way to describe Grace would be probably not revenge. So it seems like a Klingon would be hard pressed to understand the nature of God.

Something in English that is as simple as, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16) becomes in Klingon something much more complicated like that which is written below:

God didn't hate the world so much that he didn't want to take it over he didn't want to conquer it. He didn't want to destroy it. He did not withhold His Son the Great Warrior but Sent Him out to Conquer. He was a Great Warrior who didn't conquer others. He had such honor that He only sought to conquer the hatred, the pride and the greed that tempted Him. He took all the hatred, pride and greed for everyone and killed it on the cross where He became a Great Warrior. He became the Great Warrior who showed everyone how to be a great warrior. Now everyone who believed this Son of God could be a great warrior. They could now sit before the Great Warrior with God and live forever in a place where all hatred, pride, and greed and every great evil were conquered.(Klingon exposition of John 3:16)

The question is, is this problem unique to Klingons? Are there some people who have this same handicap of not being able to understand Grace, Forgiveness, Love, or Righteousness? Are there some people who do not have the honor or the ability to conquer these enemies of self? I admit that I was once and sometimes still am one of these Klingon/people.

This is the Truth of why God did have to send His Son Jesus to us. He really was the Great Warrior who conquered all sin for us (Romans 5:12-15). This was necessary because we all have sin (Romans 3:10). It was also necessary because sin keeps us from God (Romans 8:7). If you believe and receive what He did on the Cross then you can take part in that (Romans 10:9-10)and be a Great Warrior with Him (Romans 8:37).

To learn how you too can become a Great Warrior in Christ read ABC’s of Salvation here

Meeting the Challenge of a LDS Missionary
Meeting the Challenge of a LDS Missionary

Recently I was visited by two missionaries from the LDS church. Among other things they charged me that they knew that the record of the Book of Mormon was true because it filled them with peace. I immediately reminded them that many things of life can give a peace but they are not true and the peace will not be lasting. They challenged me to pray and that the Holy Spirit would reveal to me whether or not Joseph Smith was a prophet of God or an Apostate from hell. This article is the answer to that challenge and the Truth of the Holy Spirit.

The first evidence of fallacy that is noticeable when reading the Book of Mormon is that the authority is self derived. This is evident because of the incessant use of the first person nominative case pronoun ‘I’. This is reminiscent of the five I will’s of Satan (Isaiah 14:12-15). Satan always speaks highly of himself. Jesus had seven I will’s but He did not speak of what He would do for Himself but what He would do for others. (read about them here)

Not a single book in the sixty-six books of accepted canon begins with the personal pronoun ‘I’. Most begin with the word ‘Now’. Indicating that the God that wrote these scriptures is the God of ‘Now’. He is the God who meets you where you are ‘Now’ to bring you into where He is. There is one book in the sixty-six books of accepted canon which contains the personal pronoun ‘I’ in the second verse. It does not refer to man it refers to God and He is not talking about Himself, instead He’s talking about His favorite thing to talk about. This is the beginning of the verse. (Malachi 1:2a I have loved you, saith the LORD…)

Almost every part of the Book of Mormon seeks to prove the credibility of the writers by human terms. A common tact is to justify the claims of the author by showing good works. Another attempt at establishing credibility throughout the book is filial honor. Honoring of parents is good but because a man’s parents tell him to write prophecy or historical record does not make it anymore true.

In the sixty-six books of accepted canon God’s prophets do not speak of their good works ever. They speak of the wise of the Prophet Isaiah who said, “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” (Isaiah 6:5) Credibility can never be established by the works of men but only by the Fruit of the Spirit.

The challenge is met. It is easily discerned through the Spirit of Truth that the Book of Mormon is a lie. By the words of the missionaries who issued the challenge to me, “A peace will come over you if you read the truth.” There was not peace in reading the Book of Mormon. There was only the feeling a deep mist like being deceived. There was only a heaviness as I read of prophets telling God what to do or writing that they were told not to write things but they did anyway as the false prophet Moroni . It is known by 2 Timothy 3:16 that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”.

There is no need to elaborate on the problems in Mormon doctrine. It is a waste of time to research the 50+ prophecies of Joseph Smith that were proved incorrect. It isn’t necessary to show that the witnesses who testified to having seen the golden plates on which the Book of Mormon was written almost all fell away from the very church that they testified of.

My friends the True Gospel is not complicated. It is so simple that even a child can understand it and so powerful that it could bring a grown warrior to his knees. It is simply this, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9). If the Spirit is giving you that peace right now and telling you that it is True then call 1-888-NEED-HIM or read the ABCs of Salvation here

Phroneo: Keep Your Eye on the Ball
Phroneo: Keep Your Eye on the Ball

Lately the Holy Spirit has impressed upon me the importance of a single word that I had not known before. The Greek word “phroneo” which conveys the meaning of mindedness, opinion, affection, etc… It deals with a mind set. The Holy Spirit has been reminding me to have the proper mindset in my walk with Christ.

This advice from God reminds me of the days of Little League when the coach used to give me the similar advice, “Keep your eye on the ball. Concentrate on the ball.” My wife can remember from dance, “Watch your step. Concentrate on what your feet are doing”. Now God is saying, “Concentrate on me. Watch what I am doing.”

First Peter was reprimanded rather sharply by Jesus with this same word “phroneo”. Don’t be hard on Peter he was a great man of God who went on to do great things but this was one moment where he lost the proper mind set and he took his eyes off of Christ.

Matthew 16:23
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Mark 8:33
But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

Both Matthew and Mark express the same record here. The context is immediately after Jesus has revealed to his disciples that he will be killed by the religious leadership in Jerusalem. The attention is on the word “savourest” because it is translated from the Greek “phroneo”. The reason why Jesus is rebuking Satan is because he is causing Peter’s mindset to be on the things of men instead of on the things of God. It is not known exactly what Peter’s mindset is; but it is likely that he shared the mindset of so many of Jesus followers that He would set up an earthly kingdom that would liberate Israel from Rome. God of course had much bigger plans.

Romans 8:5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Once again the Greek verb “phroneo” appears but this time with instructions. Being born again becomes absolute necessity. The word “after” or in the Greek “kata” could be rendered, “that which is joined to”. Unless you are joined to the Holy Spirit you cannot have the mindset that God intends. There is only one way to be joined to the Spirit. That is to be born again. To learn how to be born again call 1-888-NEED-HIM or read the ABC’s of Salvation here.

One who is born again may slide back. They may fall or fail. Ultimately though when the heart is joined with the Holy Spirit then He will woo and cause a return to God. The proper mindset is present because of the Holy Spirit. The continual message of the Holy Spirit is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God come in the flesh sent to save our souls from hell by His sacrifice on the Cross.

Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

1 Corinthians 4:6
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

By this time a picture has begun to emerge of a mindset of humility. Each of these verses regards the proper mindset to have for your self. There is no better explanation than that of I Corinthians 13:11. Immediately following a discourse on the meaning and importance of Divine Love this reference is made to the “phroneo” or understanding of a child. Anyone who has been a parent for a while knows that the mindset of a child is that of a completely self centered universe.

Romans 12:16
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Philippians 3:15-19
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an exsample.
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Romans 15:5
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Philippians 2:2,5-8
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Ultimately this humility is key to obtaining unity in the church as suggested by five passages of scripture. In the end the ultimate example of humility is given. Jesus the very Son of God humbled Himself and went to the cross for us. The record of Christ’s life from beginning until end was of humility. His very birth was in a stable like an animal. He grew up with little money. He lived without a place to sleep often being deprived of food and basic necessities for the sake of others to which He ministered. At the end of His Life He did no different than what He had done for His entire Life. He laid down His life for others.

If Christ is able to humble Himself than how can we do anything less? There is always talk of unity among God’s people. There is always talk of working together and sharing the harvest. If this vision is ever to come to fruition it will be because God’s people learn to have the same mindset together. That mindset is of the humility of Christ.

The Little Engine Who Couldn’t
          The Little Engine Who Couldn’t

There once was a young locomotive
All day he played and was active
His teachers and friends told him time and again
If you try you can do anythin’

He watched all the big engines roll through
He said I will be like that too
He made all his dreams and he made all his plans
When I try I will climb high mountains

Down University Avenue
Other engines knew they could too
They all boasted and schemed hold on to your dreams
They reached for the mountains full at steam

The engine said now I know I can
After all I’ve got my trainin’
He pulled to the side at the start of the ride
To pick up the car for his new bride

Confident he hit the track again
I know I can do anythin’
He pulled and he toted not yet full loaded
He picked up a boxcar of kindred

As he left his wheels began spinnin’
No deal I can do anythin’
He pulled harder than hard but downward he slid
A car from his past grabbed on to him

As he slid down He shouted I can
And held fast like a religion
Like an old sacred cow what good was it now
I think I can he furrowed his brow

I think I can, yes, I think I can
Again and again and again
Faster and faster he slid toward disaster
Like others who followed his master

At the bottom he sulked and gave up
What chance did he have to get up?
Then a train going by told him with a sigh
My master can help you where you lie

There is only one way to heaven
Jesus is the only way in
If you give up and say he will help today
And there really is no other way

If you are like me, if you are the “little engine who couldn’t” then don’t believe the age-old lie that you can do anything you set your mind to anymore. There is no one who can get to heaven on his or her own. No good work is good enough for God’s riches. What in the World is Salvation?
What in the World is Salvation?

1. A gift

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Imagine at Christmas time that your children come down stairs and open all kinds of cool gifts. Imagine there are racetracks and dolls and candy and good treats and on and on. Of course your children are understandably delighted. Next imagine these children turning to you and saying, “Thank you for the gifts. I promise I will work day and night and do extra chores until they are paid off.” You would be crushed. How rude it would be to offer to work for a gift!

Likewise how can we work for the free gift that God has given us by sending His only begotten Son to die for our sins. This was His gift. We can do nothing to earn it. Whether or not it was deserved is really irrelevant. The fact is that He chose to give it. He wants us to choose to accept it.

2. An New Identity

Matthew 5:13-16
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven
.

To be salt has many meanings. For one salt is a seasoning. To be the salt of the earth is to shake things up a bit. This is not to be in an odd way. This is not anything causing confusion. Although this savor contains a foolishness it is not the foolishness of disarray. It is the foolishness of going against the grain. It would be salt to say, “We can know objective reality” for example.

Salt also is used to purify and heal wounds. This is an opportunity for God’s people to speak the Truth of God’s Word in Love. This will almost always have the immediate effect of causing pain just the same way that rubbing salt in a wound would cause pain. The end result however is healing. If the end result of words spoken is not healing then this is not being salt it is something else (perhaps pride).

Another use for salt is to make someone thirsty. Jesus described Himself as being the Living Water in (John 4:10). The opportunity is to live a life that makes others thirsty for the same.

The light of the world indicates the guiding nature of God’s people. The law of God is written on the hearts of His people. When following the Holy Spirit and not yourself then you can truly say, “Don’t do as I say. Do as I do.”

1 Peter 2:9-10
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

The words chosen and holy are both rendered from the Greek word hagios. This word means consecrated or holy. The implication of being called consecrated or chosen is that God has a purpose for you. One of those purposes is exposed in the verse. That purpose is to praise Him for saving us.

The word priesthood is translated from the Greek word hierateuma which also means from a sacred order. The implication here is the same as with holy and chosen. It is of being set apart for some purpose.

There are two words eis and peripoiesis in the Greek which together convey the meaning not of peculiar in the sense of an odd person but a different sort of peculiarity. The sense of the word here is to be peculiar in the way that an antique is peculiar. It is one of a kind. The implication is that a great price would be paid to purchase this peculiar item.

All of these six identities have the same general sense about them. They have the sense of being set apart for some great purpose or plan.

3. A New Relationship

Romans 8:14-17
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Wow! What a statement. To be a son or daughter of the Most High God King of the Universe. A library of books could be written on the implications of this. It is well known that abba is the Greek word for daddy. This shows the intimacy of the new relationship that we can have with God through salvation. The benefits of this relationship to name a few would be authority, inheritance, and belonging.

This authority allows God’s people to heal the sick, to preach the Gospel, to cast out demons, to baptize, to petition God, and all kinds of things beyond imagination! In short God’s people are given the authority as Jesus brother to do anything that He can do as God’s Son. There is one limitation placed on this authority. It has to be done in the name of Jesus. This simply means it must be something that Jesus Himself would do.

The inheritance is many things also. The inheritance is a heavenly inheritance. That is quite literally to be eligible for a heavenly home. The inheritance is the nations. This means that collectively all God’s people working together will reach the nations with the Gospel. The inheritance is to see the enemies of God become the friends of God through Christ.

This belonging is a great comfort. God’s people are never alone. As Father God is friend to the friendless. He is hope to the hopeless. He is husband to the widow. To belong to God is to never be forsaken.

4. Not a License to Sin

Romans 5:20-6:2
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

This is one of the most misunderstood bits of doctrine and I fear may keep many people out of heaven. Three very wrong interpretations of salvation exist. One is that it is fire insurance that allows us to continue in whatever way of living that we like. This can not be because to receive salvation we must confess our sin and choose to follow Christ. Second is that there is a great transformation and immediately after a conversion a Christian becomes perfect and never sins again and if he does then he is not a Christian. This can not be because I have never seen a perfect person yet not even a priest! Thirdly is that salvation is obtained by being good. This is not true because salvation is a free gift. In Truth salvation is to receive a new heart that Loves God and wishes to do His Will. Sometimes as imperfect beings Christians fail at this and then they have Grace to ask forgiveness. Can a Christian sin and sin and get away with it? Yes, certainly but a true Christian would not make a practice of it. If this is your intent then you do not know Jesus and the Truth is not in you.

5. A New Birth

John 3:3-7
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

This encounter with Nicodemus in the middle of the night was a secret meeting where this great spiritual leader of the Jews sought understanding of how to obtain salvation. Jesus told him that he must be born again. Nicodemus jested by saying, “how can you go back again into your mother’s womb”. Jesus was not speaking of a physical birth however. He was speaking of a spiritual birth. The fact is that the heart (spirit) of a sinner is dead. It is dead because it is not in communion with God and it can not be. The new birth is to receive a new desire in your heart to Love God and do His will.

6. A Cleansing

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Oddly enough washing of hands or washing in general has always been associated with guilt in terms of the human psyche. This is immediately apparent to anyone who is even mildly aquatinted with the disciplines of psychology or literature. Yet the washing of hands can never relieve guilt. Victims of great guilt are sentenced to a lifetime of obsessive-compulsive washing and feeling dirty and washing again all to no avail. Yet one must only be saved once to be washed eternally of all guilt.

7. A Justification

Romans 3:20-24
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

The justification that takes place with salvation sometimes just seems a little out of balance. Up in heaven it is like a court room. God the Father is judge, Satan is prosecuting attorney, and Jesus is the defense attorney. When you have a relationship with Jesus you are in there. He takes the judge aside and says daddy this is one of mine and you are off the hook just as if you never did anything wrong.

It is known that God is just. How is it that He could allow a sinner off the hook like that? Every time that Jesus tells the Father that a person is one of His, God remembers the Cross. How could a just God require a sin that was paid for so dramatically to be paid for a second time? The answer is that He could not. Jesus suffering was sufficient for anyone who is willing to accept it as payment for their own personal consequences.

8. God’s Plan for You

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Romans 8:29-31
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Incorrect interpretations of Romans 8:29-31 and other verses like it have led some to believe in the false doctrine of predestination. The key here is to step through one step at a time. First how many people did God foreknow. Obviously if He is truly omniscient then He foreknew everyone. This means that He predestined everyone to be conformed to the image of His Son. So He called them. When He called them He justified them and glorified them. Why isn’t everyone justified and glorified? Quite simply they have refused God’s call to come home and be conformed to the image of His Son. He is calling you now. Don’t refuse His call. You may never again hear it. He wants you to come home.

Nature of God
          Nature of God

We believe in one God, eternally present in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Identity of Jesus Christ
          Identity of Jesus Christ

1. Begotten of the Father through the Holy Spirit

Luke 1:26-35
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

2. Born of the virgin Mary

Luke 2:6-11
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

3. True man without Ceasing to be God.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

4. Offered Himself as a sacrafice for our Sins.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

5. Rose bodily from the dead on the third day never to die again.

Matthew 28
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and showed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

6. Ascended to the right Hand of the Father.

Mark 16:19
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

7. Intercedes as High Priest and Advocate on behalf of all who believe in Him.

Hebrews 7:25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Nature of the Holy Spirit

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

2. Indwells true believers and Baptizes them into one body, of which Jesus Christ is the Head.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Origin of Mankind
          Origin of Mankind

Everything was created by God out of nothing for His own pleasure and purpose.

Genesis 1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the third day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Acts 17:24-31
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Nature of Water Baptism
          Nature of Water Baptism

1. By Immersion

Acts 8:38-39
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Romans 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2. Has no Cleansing Power

1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

3. Does not Save

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

4. Reserved for believers as outward sign of faith

Acts 8:36-37
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

5. Is commanded

Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Nature of Communion Supper
          Nature of Communion Supper

1. Has no Cleansing Power

1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.

2. Does not Save

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

3. Is commanded

1 Corinthians 11:24-25
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

4. Should be taken only with a clear conscience & only by believers

1 Corinthians 11:27-30
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Two Eternal Destanies
          Two Eternal Destanies

1. Heaven for Righteous and Penitent. (non-smoking)

John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

2. Hell for Unrighteous and Impenitent. (smoking)

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Eternal Security of Salvation
          Eternal Security of Salvation

1. Salvation cannot be lost or taken

John 10:27-29
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

2. Salvation cannot be returned

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
